UAL offer street hires classes?

Sounds like all our United new-hires had internal recs. Here's a question for you lucky ones. Did any of you guys getting called have recommendations soley from a L-UAL pilot(s)? I'm just wondering if they are considering recommendations equally from either L-CAL or L-UAL pilots now that we are hiring off the street.

The interviews are taking place at DENTK under the direction of l-UA captain Mark Champion( Director) and s-CO captain Charlie Venema (Sr Manager). I would think the referral of a s-UA pilot would hold an equal amount of water to say the least.

It seems to me that their selections range across the board. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. That may be intentional so as to have as varied a pilot cadre as possible. Just an observation/opinion....so hang in there. I am as well. Congratulations to all who have been called!

I am told that every application (9000+) were ranked. Each box checked had a weight assigned to it... Internships I'm sure carried a good deal of weight, but when accompanied by ip, check airman, mil etc. that weight could be tremendously increased. The top 300 emails went to extremely connected and weighty apps.

I'm still a strong believer that a lot of it is done randomly. Like US Airways, the selection process is done randomly with "extra chances" for being picked based on different criteria, 4 year degree, minority status, military, intern, internal rec, etc.
There seems to be quite a bit of randomness with who received an email. I have seen people on here getting called with 10K+ hours, and those with less than 3000K, lots of PIC, and others with no PIC. There's been military, civilian, people with internal recs and no internal recs. guys that have gone to job fairs, and guys who haven't been to a single one.
There really seems to be no rhyme or reason, except the common factor that everyone that has received an email is highly qualified. This bodes well for everyone, since it means everyone has a chance to get an interview.
Good luck, and don't give up hope. I keep updating my profile at airlineapps, I suggest everyone else do the same.
Best o' luck!

There's guys who've been interns that haven't received an email, yet. I've gotta believe if you were an intern, and qualified, you'd also be notified. Maybe they'll be in the next batch?
How they can rank 9000+ apps, based only on the information on airlineapps is beyond me. There's no place to put a resume, so maybe the first 300 walked or had their resumes walked in? I just don't see a possibility of ranking each app 1-9000. Maybe ranking them in blocks of 100 maybe?

There are definitely a few people who were emailed that were probably hand picked - as CV stated in MIA, they would be open minded that some of the best pilots may have been stuck in the right seat for a very long time...
