I'm asking.... A pilot at my company who left for USairways just quit Airways and got hired at UAL so he says.... Has zero TPIC, spent about 5 years at a regional right seat, and probably about 5000TT if that..... Got hired and has a class date is what we are being told... I'm wondering if anyone can actually confirm street hiring and more so street hiring of someone not hired back in 08......

It all depends on UCH's needs. At a minimum they typically give the applicant enough time to give proper notice to their current employer as well as complete the background checks.
But as extreme examples, we currently have new hire pilots that have been waiting since 2008(!) for a class date and in contrast back when I was hired (late '90s) they offered me a class date about 45 days out as well as the question "Can you be here next week? If so, we have slots available."
Considering that there will not be an existing pool when off the street interviews begin I'd suspect that the pipeline will move quickly from interview to class date. They are only interviewing because they are already behind the staffing curve.
