Lump Sum Pay Advice
#31
Pretty close if you were a CAL pilot. Lump sum will be paid in two payments, 60% on 1 Feb and 40% after SLI. But wait, 40% of first payment was with held for pending litigation. Finally, another 40% is held back for taxes.
$10k x 60% = $6k
$6k x 60% = $3.6k
$3.6k x 60% = $2160
Looks like you're short $610 though.
$10k x 60% = $6k
$6k x 60% = $3.6k
$3.6k x 60% = $2160
Looks like you're short $610 though.

The website showed a total value for the lump sum payment: traunch 1 + hold back (for disputes) + traunch 2 (after SLI).
Traunch 1 is 60% of the total - the approx 5% holdback
Traunch 2 is 40% of the total
Traunch 1 is divided into two parts in the event of litigation. 40% was released to us already and 60% was withheld until later in February or early March.
So you received 40% of traunch 1 minus 25% federal bonus tax, 6.2% SS, 1.45 % medicare, 1.95% ALPA, minus state and local taxes if applicable.
Sounds like you were paid correctly to me.

Not entirely correct.

Aren't ALPA dues now 1.90%?

Eight years after implementation, staffing issues notwithstanding, there are still a few individuals trying to bid SAN turns out of Houston at 70% BES with no fallback bid groups...guess what happens? Hiring qualities have declined dramatically over the last 35 years.

If you are junior, you are left with what's left over regardless of PBS or company built lines. If you don't understand it you will also probably not like it. We have the same complaints on our side. I was lucky to be very involved in the PBS training so I understand it very well.
There needs to be some pilot to pilot training once we are all on the new system.
