$640M 4Q UAL loss - profit sharing?
$723 million loss for the year, $640 million loss in the 4th quarter alone - now with job cuts.

Some UAL pilots have been on furlough for going on 10 years and are still on the street. I'm shocked that anyone would consider applying here until the company actually showed some stability.
SJS is alive and well.

We reported a full year profit of $589 million before special items related to the merger, contract etc. etc.
Your point about the company's stability is well taken, as this management team seems to be in the weeds

589 million profit for the year...and when you merge 2 companies, cuts at the top are very normal..no surprise here.

Agreed that the performance is NOT stellar, but the title is a little misleading. We will be getting profit sharing this year, albeit quite a bit less than the last two years. Total for employee group is $119 million.

each UAL furlough has been offered a job twice, CAL is running out of UAL furloughed interested pilots and has to hire off the street. 412 retirements scheduled in 2013, and additional 500 needed now to fulfill requirement for TA work rules, and 2014 FAR changes.
What else a prospective new hire pilot should wait for?
I know arithmetic is not the strongest for some, but in this case I think it does not lie.
Scheduled retirements for next 10 years - over 4700 pilots...
