What else a prospective new hire pilot should wait for?
I know arithmetic is not the strongest for some, but in this case I think it does not lie.
Scheduled retirements for next 10 years - over 4700 pilots...
jetlink,

I wasn't aware that the company had made the "official" second offer on taking a job on the LCAL side.

I decided to come back last Oct. Hadn't received the second offer which would have put me in a situation where I either accept or lose the option. All it took in Oct was an email/phone call to CV and I was in class in 2 weeks.

I remember CV saying that they were avoiding the "official" second offer to prevent putting guys into that position of accept/decline hoping that more would consider taking the offer after the JCBA.

Anyway, at 650, I think the number of potential takers is dwindling. Of course, the remaining pilots do have the recall option whenever that is offered.

Frats,
Lee

Being offered a job at CAL under the TP&A, is not the same as being recalled. There have been zero recalls of United furloughees.

I would imagine that many furloughees still on the sideline are waiting to see the results of the SLI before they make the decision of when/if to come back. After the SLI UAL furloughees have the right to return 10 years from date of furlough regardless of what CV offers.

Some UAL pilots have been on furlough for going on 10 years and are still on the street. I'm shocked that anyone would consider applying here until the company actually showed some stability.

SJS is alive and well.
Even if you take out specials, we made 589M to DAL's 1.6B in 2012. That is one he11 of a gap! On the conference call, John Rainey noted we were 2 years behind DAL in merger synergies, but would not say if he thought we could close THAT gap. Sad.

We were told (CV) that he made two attempts to offer position with CAL to all UAL pilots, and now needs to hire off the street to fulfill vacancies. Either way, any furloughed pilot from UAL is protected under CBA of L-UAL and new TA up to 10 years as long as classes are available. There is no official recall on L-UAL side as of yet, all pilots are new hire on L-CAL till SLI.

Really? You obviously don't work for a regional. I would rather be forloughed from United then working as an FO for SureJet. In fact If someone told me today that I'm hired at united but have to quit my regional for 5 years before I got hired I would. Regional hell is vast my friend. I don't think it's SJS in that case, more a matter of perception. Perception is also something managements use when manipulating profits and losses.

Not sure how that can be true. Per the Transition agreement when a pilot is offered a position at CO they can accept or decline. If they decline they will not be contacted again unless they give 30 days notice they want to enter the process again.

You watch... somehow it will all be because of the 787 grounding. Don't worry about the fact that didn't even occur in the fiscal year that is being reported.....
