I would be very surprised if it takes that long because the rest of the retro pay does not get dispersed by UAL until the SLI is complete.

It's going to take a least 6 months...by then the senior folks would have reached their FICA limit for 2013 and save an additional 6.25% in taxes on the retro.

It has nothing to do with what either side wants. When they went to schedule the dates that everybody could meet, apparently the arbitrators are swamped with other stuff and makinging it fit in the time frame was impossible.
By the way it's not retro, it's a signing bonus. And the second amount is paltry.

CV also stated in MIA they are still working on a new hire interview process, but expect it to include a sim evaluation.
