Be careful here of the fine print.
If you're using the discount and ask for a signature, they will only try it once.
If they can't get one the article goes to there "local" distribution center and must be picked up there.
This "local" distribution center can be anything but "local".
If I ever send anything again and ask for a signature I would find out where the article would end up if they can't get one.
Also they finally allowed the retirees back in on this after closing them out for quite a few years, now if the company would only recognize they have retirees.
Oh well, I guess that's just a fantasy.

I know, I actually have that "discount" too. Sad thing is, it's 20% off of the highest fare most of the time, whereas you can usually buy a ticket off united.com that's about the same price, or just a little bit more. Thanks Jeff...

In addition, what are some other good discounts you guys have experienced and used? I know you can look at the employer/union's list but its hard to tell what is actually worthwhile in person.
Cellphone discounts seem to be a great deal although not as good as they look at first.

In employeeRes, quicklinks, myUAdiscounts, there are some very good prices for positive space tickets. My wife and I used this to go to Europe (tight schedule, major wedding anniversary, had to have positive space) and saved several hundred dollars over any other source. I just found out that an "enrolled friend" has the same ability to buy a ticket as family member now. Enrolled a cousin just for grins.
Couple of current examples. Next week LAX-IAH $106 on myUAdiscount, same UAL flight $685 on kayak (although you can go cheaper on other airlines with multiple stops on the way, but none are $106). LAX-PDX $79 vs $300. LAX-LHR $366 vs $1188 ($795 is cheapest on other airline). Narita $450. If you absolutely have to get there with a guaranteed seat, it's a heck of a deal.
Also, tax is included. If the enrolled friend or extended family buddy pass rider uses a pass, LAX-IAH for example, you get hit with $36 in taxes for it. So they can go standby for $36 or for just $70 more to get a guaranteed seat.

Wonder if it being January has anything to do with this.
