Many of you feel that furlouged UAL pilots would have already returned to CAL if they intended to go back. I disagree. I'll give you my personal example. I didn't apply for a job at CAL in '06 or '07 for two main reasons.
1). CAL had work rules comparable to TSA. Although some of that has been fixed by the new contract, I am still not thrilled by junior manning and having to check out at the end of a trip just like at TSA. Ad having to check in prior to a trip is even worse than TSA. What if I am out hiking, camping or returning from an international trip? How am I supposed to check in with no phone coverage?
2). The bases were not compatable with my life. United's were. I would not consder moving to EWR, CLE, IAH, or GUM. United was actually my first choice because of the large DC base.
After bypassing this summer, I have decided to take a new hire position with CAL. I am hopeful that I will be able to get back to DC within a few years as I make a lousy commuter. But I don't feel personally that I have been recalled.

Kellner was smart enough to say "NO" and he was out.
Just what Smallsack's ego was hoping for.
Greed at the highest levels made this happen.
