I am offended. It is actually FIFI. If you are going to insult her at least get it right. In regards to Guppy, it is a term of endearment to those who loved flying it, myself included. It is not I term of disrespect in my mind. It was great for short legs but I just don't know how much fun it would be to sit in that cockpit for a transcon

I flew Guppy's before, and still do, call them that to this day, and don't hate the term at all. They may not really look the same, but its still a guppy. How about "super guppy" for the NG's?
L-CAL guys just get touchy when well over half of their fleet has a term which implies it is smaller than most...

This is going to end up like how some guys got their callsigns. The more they complained about it, the more it stuck. So the 737 is a "guppy" and that's it. That what we call it and it isn't an insult. I fly "Fifi" or "The Bus" and either way its ok.

A 737 by any other name is still a guppy.

Okay it is a Guppy. Great wonderful. In most cases it pays as much as a 'classic' 57 but still less then those Guppy drivers at LUV. Unlike the 'classic' 57 it uses a ton of runway and is not getting parked. Touchy? Nah. Just as you guys should be, I'm pretty GD glad to have NG guppies instead of Bombardier stretch jets polluting the system.

... Speed Bump (WB pilots referring to the slow cruise speed of the "classics"... not quite as applicable to the NGs). Those seem to be the four most common.

Classic 747s... "Rope Start." Nothing ever really stuck for the 757. Heard the 762 called the "Dump Truck" and just heard some of the mechs call the 787 "The Plastic Princess" (Plastic and temperamental).

A great airplane will convert a teasing nickname into a badge of honor, e.g. 727/"Jurassic Jet".
