I'd like to have another 1000 73's on property, then we wouldn't have these threads about LOA 25 and alpa resignation etc..it's just a freaking airplane...who gives 2 chits what anyone calls it. I certainly don't.

This is why we are all doomed. Short sighted people like u who are willing to sacrifice the future of the pilots because both sides are opening bases in each others back yard.

Perfect. Thanks for sharing the disgust in your ranks for Guppy. Now I know what to say in response every time on the radio when it comes to "follow the..., give way to the.... or do you have the .... in sight." Feel free to call the Bus Fifi. Fingering Fifi is what we do all day long. And we like it!

Now that the voting is over, I emailed the manpower guy again about a timeline for a base is IAD. He says its probably 12-24 months away. It wasn't the answer I was hoping for...oh well.

For what fleet? The 737?

There already is a 757/767 base there.

And once there is SLI, baring any major fences, the current UAL fleets will be able to be bid by the CAL pilots , just like the CAL bases can be bid by the UAL pilots.

This is what I'm most worried about. We've had a NY base for years, and no one wanted to be in IAH as we couldn't fill 767 FO there.

But I know a ton of guys that are going to jump into LAX and push me down the chain.

I don't think much is gonna happen in LAX anytime soon, at least according to the UA LAX Chief. We are maxed out on gate space, can't park the NG 37's on the 80 gates, and are basically in an uneasy 3 way market share even split with AA and DAL for the foreseeable future. All that means little growth which translates into few vacancies when the dust settles for guys to bid into, and the no bump/flush provision means things will probably be fairly static for awhile after sli.

It was a strategic error to let Alaska get the refurbed 60 gates, that was the only way for us to grow.

So bid the Airbus or the 767 if you want to get to IAD sooner.

I certainly will if my low seniority allows it. I wasn't sure how soon we could bid across from S-cal to s-UAL and vice versa. The guy in Houston I originally asked the question to implied that they would put the 737 in DC prior to SLI. I don't care what plane I sit reserve on...I just want to do it from home in MD.
