Default JCBA does not give furloughees longevity

Again, just as our MEC tried to tell us that a job offer from CAL was a "recall" a year ago, now they are out selling the notion that all furloughees are getting longevity credit for furloughed time.

EVERY fricking CAL furloughee gets longevity credit, guaranteed. If you are a 99-01 UAL hire, you get zero.

4. Pay Longevity Credit for Furloughees
Upon date of signing, any pilot who is, or previously was, furloughed and whose accrued pay longevity is less than that of pilots hired on or before 5/6/08 shall receive additional pay longevity credit for time spent on furlough, but only to the extent that such credit does not provide a pay longevity date prior to 5/7/08. When an Integrated Seniority List is
presented to the Company that satisfies the terms of Section 5 of the Transition and Process Agreement (“TPA”), pilots who are or previously were furloughed shall receive additional pay longevity credit for all time spent on furlough provided that they have additional time on furlough which was not credited for pay longevity purposes upon date of signing, and provided further that the application of such additional credit does not result in any s-United pilot having a pay longevity date that is earlier than the pay longevity date of the next most senior s-Continental pilot.
Thanks UAL MEC, you have successfully thrown your own under the bus.

In addition to all sCAL furloughed pilots I think that the few sUAL pilots hired in 07 & 08 get there longevity restored as well if I read this correctly. Also, any future furloughed pilots. Don't forget the longevity UALPA got for all prior furloughed pilots in C2000.

So pretty much everyone except the 99-01 hires deserve to be made whole. I'd love to hear the explaination but I'm guessing it's the same old, "I've got mine and you have just got to pay your dues (AGAIN!)".

For the record, I'm all for EVERYBODY getting longevity credit for time furloughed.

What I'm against is specifically taking it away from the 99-01 group from here until SLI.

What is interesting is that after SLI, if you are bypassing still and are in the 99-01 group, you get all furloughed time AFTER SLI counted towards longevity. So what is difference between then and now?

And our chance will come to throw ALPA under the bus. "Keep the faith"

I'm looking forward to voting. Not only on this TA, but especially the contract which follows in four or five years. Because then ALL of the furloughed bubbas will be back on the property and there will be a significant voting block of P.O.'d guys to help level the "seniority is sacrosanct" playing field. Seniority is one thing, dicking fellow pilots is another.

This is a shameful way to treat them. They're supposed to be our union brothers. A group of pilots represented by the same group who represents US. This is a crappy way to treat them and must have been easily avoidable. James is verklempt. He's also disgusted.

Not bloody likely. The same 50%+1 who will vote this steaming pile of feces up will block any sincere effort to dethrone ALPA.

Have always enjoyed your posts but how do you figure senior people dicking fellow pilots, there have been many senior pilots speaking up to our reps for quite a while now, not that it did any good. There should be a significant amount of ****ed off pilots voting on this ta.

Syd,

Likewise on the compliment and thank you. It's nice to read both sides of the story because I believe that perspective is essential. I've worn the pin for 26 years, yet I'm among the most junior pilots at UAL. I'll probably never see the 777. But hey, I dig the bus!

I wish that I could list all the injustices laid upon the furloughed guys dating back to 911, but I don't have the memory or the list. How about the bond distribution? Or, the the no furlough clause which evaporated like a fart in the wind? Many other ALPA carriers fought for longevity for their furloughed pilots, DAL included. But not us. There have been several instances in which ALPA could have tossed the the furloughees a bone, yet didn't. Almost like a dollar bill on the end of a string trick. I certainly don't mean to start a Senior vs. Junior spat, only to point out that their union has let them down, time and again. And at UAL, the union has pretty much been run by and for the senior crowd ever since I've been here. Injustices repeated decade in and decade out do not validate them. But they will shape the attitude and the backbone of the recipient. The industry has undergone fundamental change, yet ALPA keeps swinging at the same old pinata while we get raked over the coals by management.

Yes, the senior guys really got hosed by ESOP, by Wolfe and then Tilton. I would be seething if I were you.

My beef is with ALPA and the guys in the left seat who could have used their positions to help move us forward, yet chose to hide under their desks like kids in the old "duck and cover" videos from the 60's. Based on your comments here, I'm pretty sure you're not one of them.

There was a post on the old 2172 forum written by S.S which listed all the times they had been let down. Unfortunately I didn't save it. It would have been handy tonight.

Alas, this horse is near death and the Heinekens are cold and satisfying so I am going to light up an imitation Punch Chateau L and listen to some Hendrix.

Frats.
