I always thought that bright light was being on the verge of death...death by scope, death by work rules, death by a sub par management!

Our MEC Chairman also points out how counterproductive it is to discredit a TA and hard work that hasnt been released in final product. I think the $400 MIL is just for the CAL side, yes that's right LAX LEC shot from the hip was not accurate according to our MEC Chairman as well.
I hope everyone with a vote uses thought before voting.

Again rumors of a joint statement by both MC today regarding the TA.
Lets just wait and see....

Sometimes money is more important than days off. Money pays the bills, not time. I get 19 days off per month. The "normal worker" gets 8. I get bored and I need more money. Note: I do not get Jr. manned, do VJM, nor do I pick up open time with pilots on furlough. I have never come close to 100 hours.
My choice: good work rules, good pay, and have the days off to enjoy it. I don't think you should have to choose just one. I'd love to make more and fly less. If people want to work more, let them (if it doesn't take someone's job).

Otto,
You appear to contradict yourself. If people 'working more' does not take someones job then why should people on furlough affect your decision to pick up extra time?
In my opinion Pilots flying extra directly affects hiring. But the unfortunate fact is that we (all legacy airlines) are all becoming more efficient and flying more per pilot.
I agree with you about the importance of good work rules.

It's not a contradiciton. If people are on furlough = no extra flying. If no one is on furlough = fly whatever you want, no one is losing their job or prevented from coming back. At worst you might be preventing new hiring.
That's all I'm saying.

That is what I was told also. The CAL Lax rep numbers were correct and JP statement also says the numbers leaked are accurate with reference to the CAL side of the house. The number for the UAL side was closer to $700M. ( higher % on pay increase and a much higher pilot population). I believe this is the reason why so many are claiming that L-UAL pilots will vote for the money and look the other way on other sections of the TA. To which I say ***. SCOPE, SCOPE, SCOPE SCOPE SCOPE and more SCOPE.
