I agree, and I think there will not be much of an increase in the amount of furloughs interested in returning until the dust settles fully.

Some of the implementations of work rules cannot be immediately done because we don't have staffing for them, so yes, there will be hiring and there will be off the street hiring because a lot of the UAL furloughees won't likely return right away, if ever.

If you have an interest in working for UAL, (MAN it's good to not have to say L-UAL anymore....) then I would say keep focusing hard, because it looks very much like we will need to hire, and a decent amount, going forward. Best of luck. Hope to see you on line.

Incorrect. It will add slightly less than 400 positions. However, coupled with retirements we will be hiring 60/month for the indefinite future.

How and when will they know how many UAL guys are now coming back? Since the list has been gone through once, is it now up to those guys to come forward at any point they're ready? Is there going to be a deadline of some sort?

In short, don't hold your breath. You'd be better off trying to go with almost anybody else than UAL. Noxious pilot/management relations. Also bound to be some CAL/UAL animosity over SLI issues, regardless of how it turns out.

Realistically, expect more furloughees to come back which will equal less hiring. Downsizing of UAL 757's wont be offset by new 737's, which will result in surpluses across that fleet. I expect a lot more A320 flying will be scoped out to Skywest or whomever flies the new 76 seaters.

So where besides somewhere outside of the industry would you go then?
Every place has a negative.
