I don't know what to tell you, perhaps you are better off not getting a call at all, then suffer from negative outcome during that period. My buddy was heartbroken, this was his dream airline. As you know DAL offers only one time deal, if you shot down, you are out for life with DAL.
Good luck to you.

Those 78 received the letter.. they will be getting preferential interviews. Before they start off the street interviewing.

Then there are 44 LUAL poolies that got the 2008 letter saying they successfully completed interview etc. but didn't have class date assigned yet.

They have to cut the line somewhere.. and thats where it looks to go from apples to oranges.

The 44 UAL poolie oranges are on their radar, they know they exist. But they aren't on Charlies list, and don't get a 2nd interview. They don't get preferential new interview. Have to reapply, starting from scratch, and he suggested updating quarterly. Those 44 were obviously competitive before, and they know who they are. so hopefully will get a shot towards the front "of the wave" with the interns, professional organizations and others on their short list to give good look at.
That all matches what CV said today during FAM. I don't have anything to add.

But for LUAL:
pool class date cancelled = letter.
no class date assigned yet = no letter.
My bad, I guess it does matter what side of the house you were on...

Any ideas on how many will be hired in the next few months/year? Didnt see any numbers.... (round numbers will be fine). Not 1.37 every 3.2 days.

nobody knows , not even C.V.
there are about 1050 furloughed LUAL guys still out.

If the TA and JCBA happen soon and is a good deal, more LUAL furloughees will come to the LCAL side resulting in less spots for off the street hiring.
if it sucks or is delayed more, LUAL furloughees will stay on the sideline resulting in more off the street hiring.

That s basically what CV said. the TA/JCBA should be a good indicator when it comes out.

Unofficial word is about 40 "off the street" hires yet this year (after all the L-UAL pilots want to accept the S-CAL offer have been placed) and around 250 next spring with a hazy forecast after that...other than probable continuous hiring at an unknown rate.

All subject to significant change, particularly with reference to the economy and specific details of the JCBA/SLI and official L-UAL recalls. In other words, typical airline planning and forecasting. They'll be short long before they hire enough...or they will be hiring right up to the next merger when they furlough pilots out of ground school. Again.
