Have a clue, and I could care what your opinion might be. No doubt you were thrilled with the furloughs and would be happy to step over anyone to move up. Oh wait thats why you joined alpa.

Are you sure that parking aircraft (including entire fleets) had nothing to do with suddenly having too many pilots post 9/11 at UAL? Off the top of my head, UAL parked 75 727s and 22 737-200s by Halloween 2001 and followed up by eliminating the 767-200. Shortly thereafter the 747-400 fleet was reduced to 26 (from 44) and the 777 to 52 (from 60) and about 62 737-300/500s were parked which cumulatively led to UAL furloughing 2172 by 2004. In typical UAL fashion, too many pilots were furloughed and the recalls began only a few months after the last furlough.

Why would I be thrilled? Cause I got to enjoy my three year furlough stint? You got me there. Thrilled to death. Thrilled watching CAL take no pay cuts or concessions until the furloughs were back on property. Thrilled watching new hires with no insurance for 6 months after the concessions. Thrilled watching 59 1/2 year old's salivate at the prospect of getting 5 more years on the backs of the junior pilots. Ecstatically thrilled.

You will be thrilled the first chance you get to go over the top of someone, it's easy to see.

You the unlucky new hire will be squished into the the very very deepest bottom of the seniority list for the foreseeable future. now we have the slightest mouse fart in the economy and history tells us UAL will furlough like crazy it's a cultural thing here. Guess where Mr. new hire winds up? On the street for say a short decade? Roll the dice and take your chances here at UCH my friend. But don't say you weren't warned.
Eternally optimistic (sort of)
