Default The Flight Plan

The Flight Plan May 2012
Domestic Re-Deployment/IAH Domicile
Domestic redeployment commenced with the April flying schedule and will continue to gradually increase through the May/June flying months. Aircraft Scheduling will hold the redeployment flat with the June level for July and August. In September, we will see another increase in the reallocation of aircraft. This increase will continue through the fall. As you know, the company and ALPA have recently agreed to an extension of the Transition and Process Agreement (TPA). This extension allows for an opening of a s-UA domicile in Houston (IAH). We believe the volume of aircraft redeployment lends itself to establishing a IAH 320 and 757/767 domicile. The current plan calls for an effective date for the domicile starting with the September flying month. We anticipate approximately 50 crews in IAH on the Airbus and about 40 captains and approximately 60 first officers on the 757/767. The plan is to publish two vacancy bids to attain these numbers. The first vacancy bid should be published in the first part of May followed by a second vacancy bid in late May early June. Since this is a new equipment domicile, section 8-C- 3-c of the CBA applies and we will be offering conditional bidding. Conditional bidding allows the pilot to have the ability to request to be in the top 1/3 or top 2/3 of the population at the domicile. Since our staffing plan does not have the excess capacity to train during the summer flying months, in all likelihood September will be staffed with pilots who are currently flying the equipment and lateral into IAH and temporary flyers pursuant to the TPA. The 320 will be flying domestic routes and some Mexico. The 757/767 will fly domestic routes in addition to the IAH/LIM route. The potential exists for additional international routes to be flown by the IAH domicile. We will have more clarity on these routes when the 2012 winter and the 2013 summer schedules are finalized.
JFK Domicile
As mentioned in the November edition of the Flight Plan, EWR will see more s-UA 767 international flying. We have added additional first officers to the JFK domicile to handle the augmentation and a large number of first officers have been internationally qualified. However, the level of international flying out of EWR on the s-UA 767 has not materialized at the pace we once thought. For the July flying month, we currently have four international routes planned (ZRH, GVA, IST and EZE). The plan is for JFK crews to fly the base ID and augmented position. If additional first officers are required, we will look at “W” flying. We plan to continue to grow the JFK 767 domicile and will be publishing vacancy bids for first officers in conjunction with the vacancy bid for IAH.
Retirement of OPS SPEC A012
This OPS Spec allows s-UA to fly some international destinations (in Canada Mexico Caribbean etc) under domestic FARs. Subsidiary CO does not utilize this OPS SPEC. As we merge to a common operation, we will retire A012 and operate to these destinations under international FARs. The removal of this OPS SPEC is scheduled for June 1st. More information regarding this change will be released shortly by Enote and in the monthly bid packages.
Summer International Schedule (July 2012)
Below is the summer (July) international flight schedule. To ensure manpower matches up with the flying hours, you will see some “W” flying.

I believe the EWR B756 are doing some 6 day trips now to cover the IAD-CDG flights with DH on the front and back end of the trip.
