UAL T-38 Phyler -- For what it's worth, I'm bidding while on MIL leave for L-CAL, although it's just eyewash until you set a return date, at least on the L-CAL side.

It may be academic as I might not be senior enough, or I'm not even sure if guys on mil-leave can bid (although I think we are supposed to be able to).
I believe that you can bid while on mil leave, but there's no need to worry about it!

When you give them your return date they will email you a bunch of info. One of those things is a 'Junior Pilot' list from Unimatic -- you then pick any fleet/seat/domicile positions where someone is junior to you. Voila! This is what I got when I just returned from a ~2 month mil leave.

So, what are the rules? Can I bid without seeming to be a scab, union-buster, Marvin Mainliner, or CAL-back-stabber?

Your thoughts, please.
In no way would this be held against you. Those positions will be filled... voluntarily or involuntarily. The only argument I can see against bidding IAH is the TPA makes involuntary assignment to a new domicile TDY, and thus a higher cost to the company. Still, I can't imagine anyone holding it against you for bidding it, and personally think you're hurting nobody but yourself if you don't.
