I am disappointed in my fellow UAL pilots and their negative feelings about JP's nd the CAL MEC response. Their response was more than enough and met my expectations of support for the the UAL MEC's direction. It maintained their control and dignity to respond to the ISL needs of the CAL pilots while showing a unified position to move these negotiations to a successful conclusion.
JH's move also ferreted out and made public UCH's failure to comply with their verbal agreements to have a contract completed by-mid June. By agreeing to such a process and then returning to a 2010 position (R&I) revealed the divisiveness and failure to negotiate in good faith by UCH.
Now with this commitment by the CAL MEC we can work together to get a JCBA in place.

Any strategy for achieving a fair contract on a timely basis must include solidarity and open communication between the pilot groups. We believe that the next step should be to engage in just that type of joint strategy. The partnership of our MECs demands no less than this. Real partnerships are based on common goals and open communication.
I don't care for the word fair in the above. That is a term that Sleestack likes to banter about with. Industry Leading in every measurable category should be the thrust, and that needs to be communicated in no uncertain terms to UCH.

Well...I've given some time for the opinions to gel and my thoughts now are not very far my initial reaction, "eyewash"!
Let's just say that if the reins were ever jointly held, JP just let go entirely and the UAL-MEC is now steering the run away stage coach. What a weak, weasely, noncommittal bunch of lame double-talk. The FEAR that rules the L-CAL ranks has reached epidemic proportions as evidenced here by "co-workers" comments. L-CAL's management bound chair, "wordesqued" the responsibility to represent his baggage (history of and sympathy to picket line crossing) laden, walking wounded, forces back from the front for a breather, with appeals to every labor authority under the sun. Not a full blown retreat, but certainly calling for time out while feigning having been poked in the eye to a sympathetic ref, rather than on with any fight. I am starting to suspect he may be French.
Here's wishing everyone a happy summer, as line values exceed even that of balls out commuter schedules. Couldn't help but notice this morning's renewed call, a standing order for 737 junior manning until further notice. Hopefully everyone likes airports and hotels better than family and time off.

Maybe you are right. But, that is only 30 minutes away by car, and if he's been out more than 90 days of consecutive mil leave that would make him a member of the association in something other than good standing. If he is not in good standing he can't vote on the MEC, much less vote on a cba. Very odd, I will need to look into this further.

He doesn't have much wiggle room, so we won't have to wait long. As much as I'd like for him to join the team, I would never want anyone (especially you) to suffer the indignity of professing a love of Duke
Sometimes it's necessary to force someone to unmask. I got a bunch of LHR trips next month...how 'bout you?

Not sure what you want here. A lap dog? Someone with no voice of their own? The problem is he is not the leader that YOU control and it scares the scat of of you. How dare anyone not follow and get in line behind ANY pilot leader at UAL. You need to remove your head before flight and see that both sides are coming together here. Or does that scare you even more? I'm beginning to think you are going to ***** and moan no matter what either side does or says.
You remind me of the Gordo pilot contract joke........Gordo holds a pilot meeting and tells each pilot they will each be paid $500,000 a year, have stellar work rules, and receive great benefits. All you have to do is work every Wednesday of the year. 2/3 of the pilot group collectively bemoan,
" What do you mean every Wednesday? ".

Let me ask you EWR73FO, do you think that JH's appeal for release wasn't a "well thought out and realistic attempt to positively influence a prompt resolution"?
This is pure doublespeak and the closest thing to a golden parachute that a Unionist who hasn't been offered a juicy enough management job (yet) can sew together.
My thoughts? A one word communiqué would have suficed. "ABSOLUTELY!"
P.S.
I don't care how far it is from Guam to Houston, we should have heard "Absolutely" much earlier in the week.

It was a way to make themselves feel better about the decision they made to go to work for Lorenzo without union representation. A way to forestall the inevitable re-organization of the airline. They knew that union on the horizon would eventually hold them accountable for their actions in 1983.
