All I read was they support a protocol for determination of a well thought and realistic attempt, including the option of seeking a release. In layman's terms it seems like a lot of hoops to jump through before the UAL MEC can expect Kim Jung Pierce to fire his rocket.
They could have said they were breaking off joint negotiations and were going to establish a separate negotiating protocol with the company because they represent CAL pilots only.

They didn't.

They didn't break it off and they didn't directly support the UAL MC. More weasel room to follow the winds of the future.

I feel like the red headed step child looking for the hot prom date. "Well, she didn't say no....."

Hey Heel,

You didn't really think JP would have an epiphany here did you? There was NO WAY he was going to just going to sign onto the UAL MEC plan (and by default the UAL leadership/credit) outright. He's too wily to be pinned down like that. It's like he's inside the corral, but not quite ready to join the team. He needs time to figure out how to do enough to claim credit while keeping enough distance to avoid blame. Even JP can't come up with that kind of scheme in 48 hrs!

Honestly, the CAL MEC needs to get up to speed on the strategy REAL quick and JP needs to agree to a realistic 'protocol'/timeline very soon. By early next week at the latest we need to see some SERIOUS joint communication or we'll know that JP pulled a JS on us.

Terp,

I was confident he would not directly support us. The question was would he distance CAL from the jcba negotiations or simply foment a cloud of confusion, delay, and obstacles. A politician will never paint themselves in the corner.

"....JP needs to agree to a realistic 'protocol'/timeline very soon. By early next week at the latest ..." My tortoise friend, you have a better chance of my professing my love of Duke by early next than Pierce agreeing to a protocol/timeline.

He doesn't have much wiggle room, so we won't have to wait long. As much as I'd like for him to join the team, I would never want anyone (especially you) to suffer the indignity of professing a love of Duke

Sometimes it's necessary to force someone to unmask. I got a bunch of LHR trips next month...how 'bout you?

I agree the noose is tightening and Kim Jong's neck. I also view Heppner's actions as not just a simple, transparent platform for a release request.

The problem is all of the key players who can influence the process. The company can move the negotiation bar enough to give Pierce the wiggle room he needs. He could also seek cover within the NMB or hide within the confines of his MEC by producing weak, meaningless statements.

There is a lot that we don't know. In the end all we can do is insist or reps work on our behalf while also promoting the betterment of the JCBA for both sides. I don't feel those are mutually exclusive.

No trips to the motherland next month. Just a little mosquito chasing and domestic love.

I noticed that right away too....

The F/O your referring to is "Pred/Mil" guy.

Maybe he was not there at the meeting in person due to Mil stuff down at Ellington???....At least that's what I'm hoping.

Could not agree with you more.

I noticed that less than a few hours following the announcement from the CAL-MEC, it still was not quite 'good enough' for some. I don't know how much more he (JP) could have said to support "The Hep's" motion voiced earlier in the week??

For those "soothsayers" (and even 'naysayers'), give it a break!! Why not reserve judgement till the "proposed" proverbial line of June 1st is upon us? As some have expressed in other threads, 'we have waited a decade'.....What's another 40 days (till June 1st) to see if JP's actions speak to his words??

Save the pop-shots till then??

I think you will find that despite what you read on the board here from a few on both sides, the overwhelming majority are very pleased with the result of the meeting.
