Interesting. Don't want to take new hire input. Very shallow thought process for somebody that's supposed to be a captain.

Many FOs have more experience and knowledge than you. It's all about accessing all knowledge available to create the safest flight possible.

UAL trains everybody as Capt, actual Capt has Capt authority but realizes the guy in the right seat is a valuable asset.

But your right. Haven't seen that here at CAL. More of a commuter operation verses a mature operation.

Actually, you're post just illustrates his point. Blockoutblockin on the no pair list by 90% of the f/o's I'm guessing. Shame we can't institute OLQ (officer like quality) in the airlines like they did at AOCS.

Hang in there dude .. L-UAL will start recalling in September and then you can come work for a real airline.

Agreed, but I would like to put an emphasis on the "+" for UAL work rules. Our rules are Ch 11 rules for the most part, and HUGELY concessionary compared to what we once had. Hopefully there will be improvements

I can't believe anyone would come on this forum and defend CAL's work rules or treatment of pilots. Coming from the Air Force I didn't understand work rules, but I do now. The military has better rules for fighting fatigue in a combat zone than CAL has for flying passengers around. I'm also tired of UAL pilots coming on here and making generalizations of CAL pilots. Most of the CAL pilots I have flown with are sick and tired of the crap going on at CAL and want a change for the better. This bickering back and forth does jack s%$t for our end goal. We both worked under crappy contracts at different companies, now we work under crappy contracts for the same company. We should all have one common enemy, and one common goal.

Many of the guys/gals who took the furloughed pilot jobs at CAL have more 121 experience than some of the CAL Captains they are flying with. Wouldn't it be wise to at least listen to what they say? After all, they have experience living under both contracts, something you and I do not have. In that regard, that makes them subject matter experts.

Yeah.............the REAL airline that took your pensions, gave a lot of flying
to RJ's, parked all your B737 and furloughed over 1400 pilots, has several over 80 year old FA's (and planes from the looks of it), and an EX CEO that gets over $600,000 a year in pay to not even work there anymore! You mean THAT REAL AIRLINE? I'd rather be at CAL to be perfectly honest. When GB and GB were here, it was the place to be. Unfortunately, that has gone down hill RAPIDLY under new management, and with the introduction of our new dance partner, it's gotten even worse. Sorry............even turned down DAL to come here as did several other guys I know. Now it's not looking like such a great decision, but it's one I'll live with for a few more years...... Oh, and the couple of UAL guys I've flown with have been great guys to fly with and other than crappy schedules, are HAPPY to be back flying again.

I have flown with half a dozen of our furloughed UA brethren in the past couple months and they have all been great aviators that are keenly aware of the respective drawbacks of each CBA, and are extremely focused on achieving nothing but an industry leading contract. Good conversations and camaraderie. Now, I'm not sure what they say about me after the trip (I.d.) is over, though..
