L-CAL System Bid 13-04 Final Results
The system bid results are posted on the Flight Operations site under the bidding/staffing section.
Bases with vacancies remaining:
CLE 737 FO = 3
GUM 737 FO = 12
IAH 737 FO = 52
EWR 737 FO = 38
IAH 756 FO = 17
EWR 756 FO = 43
Total Vacancies Remaining: 165 (based on min staffing numbers)
An honest congratulations to all those United pilots who were able to get into the bases they wished for, esp LAX, ORD and CLE from what the bid results show. Good luck to all hoping to get the opportunity to get back to flying, even if it is on the L-CAL side.

How are you deriving 165 vacancies from the final bid report? First time seeing a CAL bid result....i just see names and former/current bases organized by bases then a alphabetical list near end.
Also don't see training bid dates that was supposed to be published immediately after bid result. Any idea when training for this bid will be? Well after summer one would guess...
The CAL FO website is not exactly extravagant!
Thanks for help....

Also it was said one should take the roughly 80 in training now and subtract them from this vacancy number to get actual new hires from this bid because they have exceeded the 180 needed from the last bid through extra classes. Thoughts?

The 243 vacancies in the original bid minus 80 comes up close to 165 - not sure if this is hows it's figured but the math works.

Wow, so as I am flying all over the middle east into such lovely places as Kabul, Saana, Baghdad, Kandahar and others (though as a Captain now), someone else who was hired 7 years after I was hired at UAL is now flying the same slot I was furloughed from in Denver to "right size" the airline for this merger. Forgive me if I don't rush back to fly on the CAL side.
