L-CAL System Bid 13-04 Final Results

The couple friends I talked to in the classes following your's got the impression from Charlie that there could possibly be more classes. I know that was a very poorly constructed sentence...but I'm hoping there will be some more classes before the fall.

CAL's annual sim events can occur during a three month window (early month, due month, late month). In any given month they schedule those in their late month first, then those in their due month, and then they fill out the sim schedule with early month folks to try to stay ahead of the game.
I heard they pretty much canceled the 737 early month folks in order to free up the sims to keep the new hire training going. They've been offering time-and-a-half for open time pickup since the 9th continuing to the 25th (so far) so it's pretty clear they realize they're behind the power curve in getting the staffing up to speed for the summer.

It's St. Patty's Day. Poorly constructed, mis-spellings, grammatical errors, etc... are given a "Mulligan"!

Perhaps that will change. If they're JM'ing already, can't imagine what summer holds in store.

I should have been more specific, that those sims were freed up for March to get some new hires trained for the summer. Most summers they end up flying instructors, chief pilots, and any non-line pilot they can find to cover the schedule so not much training going on. Even then there end up being some "acceptable losses" of flights which they'll blame on various things (last year they said the pilots were doing an illegal sickout).

‐CAL Hiring
The responses to the 105 offers sent out on
23FEB2012 left two slots unfilled in the
17APR2012 class, which was originally planned
to be the last class scheduled for the spring of
2012. However, L
23FEB2012 left two slots unfilled in the
17APR2012 class, which was originally planned
to be the last class scheduled for the spring of
2012. However, L
‐CAL has decided to add one
more new hire class of 20 pilots to begin on
01MAY2012.
L‐CAL sent offers to the next 93 pilots on
07MAR2012. This represents pilots hired at LUAL
from 08OCT2000 through 04FEB2001, and
aims to fill the 22 remaining training slots for
the spring. The responses to this batch of offers
are due on 22MAR2012.
In the 06MAR2012 new hire class had two
notable differences in base assignments
compared to other classes to date. For the first
time since the 04OCT2012 class (the first class
of furloughed L‐UAL pilots) GUM slots were
offered and assigned. Two GUM slots were
available; two pilots expressed interest and
were awarded GUM 737 F/O as their initial
assignment. The second notable difference was
that the eight ball was awarded IAH.
Respectfully,
