Don't get me wrong I would love to go. I then would come home to an empty house when I got back.

When will there be an official decision to summer classes...just wait to see if they send out more letters?

Consensus is there won't be summer training and te bid effectiveness of April next year also points to training later in the year. Apparently CAL traditionally goes to idle at the schoolhouse so everyone can take in that lovely 100+ degree Texas summer.

Unless folks have heard otherwise?

The United side is unlikely to recall anytime soon as from most accounts their fat on most fleets and have old gear they'd apparently like to park at the first sign of consumer softening. That outlook is a bit old now but coupled with the slight capacity decrease I wouldn't hold my breath for being back at TK anytime soon.

Also a training bid is supposed to be put on the CAL FO website which should detail training plans, however who knows when that will happen.

Have no experience with CAL training bids or what they look like but would imagine and hope they will give an idea about future training time frames.

The CAL FO website is not exactly extravagant!

Thanks for help....
First, agree with you on the Flight Operations website not being the best. I did run into one of our line pilots who is an IT wiz and has been working on developing the new Flt Ops site for the company. Said it has been a slow process because it takes forever to get answers from anyone when he has questions, but he did say it will be much improved when it finally gets done.

As far as where to get the 165 number, take a look at the top header for each page. I'll use CLE FO since that is the first base on the report. You will see numbers at the top that look like:

[122 (128) 119 3]

That translates to:

122 Minimum positions (per the system bid posting)
(128) is the total pilots in the base, including those supervisors and leaves
119 is the new active total from the final award
3 is the number of vacancies left to be filled (minimum minus active)

You can look at each aircraft to see the numbers that I copied into the above post. The other way to do it is to look at the minimum positions in each BES from the original system bid posting and then look at the number of pilots awarded each BES on the result. In the case of CLE I see 119 FOs meaning they are 3 short of the minimum number for staffing.

Finally, training assignment bidding is open under the bidding tab in CCS. I've been on the same plane since hired so couldn't tell you about where or not there are "dates" in our training assignment bidding. However, look under the tab and you'll see a standing preference option and a training bid option.

No furloughed UAL pilots were awarded DEN.

However, 10 furloughed UAL pilots were awarded LAX 737 FO, 1 was awarded ORD 737 FO and 2 were awarded CLE 737 FO.

I have no experience with training assignment bids either since I have been on the same aircraft and they don't affect me.

However, as indicated above utilize the "BIDDING" > "TRAINING ASSIGNMENT" > "TRAINING ASSIGNMENT BID" found on CCS.

Also, take a look at the original "Bid Notification Posting" on the FLT OPS site under the "System Staffing Information" page. The very last page will give you information about Training Assignment Bidding. It will indicate the dates and times the bidding opens/closes and what months the award will be for. Hope this helps as well.
