Anyone who supports CAL ALPA MEC PRES CA Jay Pierce does not support organized labor. He is a shill for management.
Mr. Pierce is former CALEX management having worked directly for CEO Mr. Jonathan Ornstein. Mr. Ornstein is a protege of Mr. David Bonderman and his cohort Mr. Frank Lorenzo. Mr. Pierce has a long anti-labor / anti-pilot history. He has never flown a line of flying during his CAL career. He somehow transformed overnight from anti-labor management to an ALPA leader. This can only happen at Continental Airlines.
Mr. Pierce's enemy is not management but the cockpit of a modern day jetliner. He will say and do anything to keep his cushy non-flying job.
Since the infamous Strike, CAL unions have been mostly run by self serving and corrupt individuals. Two of their former union leaders now work for management. Three of their Negotiating Committee Chairman now work for management. They have recalled many union representatives for flight pay loss abuse. In essence, FPL abuse is stealing money from the union. Instead of being made to pay back this money and being kicked out of the union, these pilots are slapped on the hand with no punishment.
On the other hand, no one can dispute that UAL pilots are very militant and epitomize the meaning of ALPA. UAL is ALPA. CA Jay Pierce has been going out of his way to antagonize and to undermine the UAL MEC. As a result, he has created much distrust and anger. In the long run, these things will come back to haunt CAL pilots.
Few if any can question the integrity of UAL MEC and their devotion to ALPA. Where as, Mr. Pierce has a long black history attacking pilots and organized labor. His overnight transformation being pro ALPA appears to be an illusion. Serious union members are inable to trust Pierce and he must be removed from office before he inflicts incredible damage to the majority of CAL pilots. I've noticed that those who are warning pilots about Jay Pierce are exponentially more eloquent, comprehensive and detailed in their posts than those supporting him. How about one of Jay Pierce's supporters telling us all the wonderful unionist traits and accomplishments of this guy?
