Hey CAL guys, Didn't a practice bid come and go this last week. Correct me if I'm wrong but could you not tell how many unfilled vacancies(ish) there were? And wouldn't that be the projected furlough/street hiring numbers?

243 vancancies, offer to UA furlough then hire off the street, if needed..to fill vacancies. Bid closes 14 Mar

Yeah but look at when this was...2000. So much has change since then. It's like saying it took 1.5 years to make CA in 1978. Not sure why you even bring this up since it was pre 9/11 and industry deconstruction.

However if you ask some 243 vacancies does not mean 243 new hires. Yet to find anyone who can explain this logic but quite a few saying this bid will result in only 40-100 actual new hires and the rest is just moving people around

Mystery to me on that calculation...any theories on how Many actual new hires?

Either way it's interesting theyve gone darn near all the way through the UAL list to finish the last bid. Interesting times.

That's what A. Chen supposedly said. That there will be additional hiring come fall, but the Sept. slots will be filled by pilots already on property...?
I didn't see any "reductions" of bases in the bid?

Anyhow, might see you this Fall (ish).

True statement.
Aug 2005 hires were able to hold CA-B737/EWR in 2008. That only lasted till they furloughed the 143.

The current snap-shot (1 of 2) has the 8-Ball back to Aug 2005.....This time in GUM. Snap-shot 2 of 2 comes out tomorrow with the final publish on the 15th of this month.

Should be interesting.

Lighten up. Just agreeing that 2-3 year upgrades in the last decade for CAL maybe a thing of the past...
