You couldn't describe any better what happened to 58% of this pilot group. Today's silent majority pulled gear through the 80s and 90s with management pilots and because of that experience ended up just like this, which is why it is the way it is today.

This opportunity for unity is gone. Next is UAL getting it's shot at some outside the TPA agreement, big enough to turn some heads at CAL.

Default Mere Words?????

So where is the ALPA brotherhood we so glibly speak of? The T&PA is dying and us at UAL are getting the screw job as CAL is getting a benefit WE negotiated while in bankruptcy to lessen the blow of losing 40+ % of our pay! Aside from the fact that your guy took profit sharing in lieu of the 767 grievance potential $$, why does anyone with a true long term union vision celebrate a benefit so trifle in cash yet so monumental in principle when it is a slap in the face of your alleged UAL brethren? Why are CAL pilots salivating at opening domices in DEN and ORD for guppies at the expense of UAL "brethren" who will obviously be pushed out of seats and domiciles to make room? Can't anyone rise above the short term and see the long term effects? Do we not know that the management boobs know this will drive a wedge between us? As I force commute to IAH I, for one will curse CAL pilots with every breath as it is us at ALPA, not management who forced me to be away from my family 4 to 6 more days a month on reserve!!! So, welcome to your new domice and your new profit sharing....WOO HOO! I am so convinced that we are the stupidest group of idiots on the planet....and so is management!

Just as UAL plans to further encroach our bases with Busses. First 70-seaters, now EWR, IAH and CLE. At the expense of ALL of us by the way.

Well, based on the comments so far, it appears Pilots for Kids is going to be flush with cash come February 14th then.

A whole lot of typing going on with no action....on either side. UAL did this. CAL did that. If you don't like it, take action. WALK OUT. Oh yea, RLA this, RLA that. I've never seen a more educated bunch of wussies. Everybody writing on this forum at CAL or UAL should be ashamed if they don't have enough in the bank to walk the hell out until UAL gives us a JCBA and a lot of improvements. Oh yea, how about a big ass check for helping make the merger happen at all?

Quit being so apathetic and use the tools you have in your bag to show UAL we mean business.

Damn.

P.S. You all are going to make me get another profanity infraction.

Both MECs are free to negotiate for their pilot group and I too hope the UAL and CAL MECs are collaborating on how best to protect interest during the TPA. From talking with the CAL leadership, that collaboration is occurring. The What and the degree...I do not know. I also hope that in that process, we don't give away the farm. I sure hope the MECs are working together to ensure the company does not pull the " furlough card" or any other card in their hand at this point that .as you stated we shall see. Be curious what the UAL MEC take and communication is on this issue

Well, for one, I personally do not know ONE SINGLE cal pilot who is happy and "celebrating" this sorry a$$ one time check..secondly, why would you come on this board and "preach" unity, yet stir up more division.."salivating" at new domiciles? are you high? do you know how many people have moved to IAH for the long haul..to raise there kids and settle down..now to maybe have it reduced by 40%(as the rumor mill implies)?? and you think they are celebrating this notion..not trying to slam you, but it seams very ironic to state unity in the first title, then slam us in the remainder of the post...if you are gonna curse at anyone, how about the dummey that sold out your 73 fleet for 70 seaters banging 68 dollars and hour as captains...good luck to ALL OF US!

Default Salivating

Believe me, us at UAL would love o have a clause in any future CBA that we can horse whip the MEC members who agreed to any and all of the screw job they were pushing....and then the single MEC Chairman that signed the death notice for all our forloughees, aka the RJ give away!

My point is that to forge unity somebody, someone I would call a leader, needs to not take the cake until we get it with lots of icing....aka don't take what they are giving you unless we ALL benefit. Look through the flight director bars and see the big picture....we all suffer or we all benefit, NOT just one part of us!!!!

How about all the CAL pilot simply NOT BID for any new vacancies in DEN or ORD? Once that happens I will buy your comment. Think I am safe to say that won't happen. Prove me wrong! UAL pilots can do nothing as we have zero leverage. CAL pilots have the leverage by refusing to play ball with these a-holes running this Titanic into the iceberg. It takes leadership, both in our respective MECs and each one of us individually as without it we are doomed. An ounce of sacrifice for a ton of benefit for all. To see that means removing the blinders and seeing the big picture...us vs. Satan. Nothing, and I repeat Nothing will happen that is good for us all unless we fight for it with any leverage we have up to and including the strike. Just a curiosity but what % of CAL and what % of UAL will cross the line....think about that. History and the fact that UAL has been royally screwed since 2003 tell me UAL will not cross any picket line but I do not have that same view of your rank and file....forgive me if that upsets anyone but we will revisit this once the strike happens. And it will!

Well....looks like management has won again. For a few bucks and with help from Jay Pierce, they have successfully caused a rife between the 2 pilot groups.

Maybe Jay needs to go before further damage is done? Our MEC had the fortitude to get rid of Wendy....what about you guys? We need reps that are there for the WHOLE pilot group, not one side over the other.
