Are you looking at the cost per year chart? Because if you are that doesn't take into account hours flown. While it shows similar annual cost per pilot CAL pilots fly about 10% more hours for the same cost.

I don't see how one can infer a 13% compensation gap based on those charts. There are so many variable that it would be hard to reach such a hard conclusion. Variables would include the ratio of narrowboday to small body flying, the amount of international flown, etc.

Regardless of a specific number I'm pretty confident CAL has the cheapest overall cost per pilot among the majors, and among many others as well. Management wants to continue this at CAL and bring UAL costs down to it, which is the fight we're in right now.

No, not the majority. Didn't say majority, but I run across them. It dosen't take much.

Yes it has. UAL, BK. NWA, BK. DAL BK. All had pay, benefits and work rules taken away by corporate thieves and a judge. CAL, not BK. We gave it away, and far more than the others had taken away by force. In 2010 UAL pilots got 13% more in pay and benefits than CAL pilots. DAL pilots 22% more.
And back to the thread topic, they all have contractual profit sharing while we go begging for a piece of the pie--and give away what? in the process. They have better BK contracts than we've ever had outside of BK. We are "United" now. If there were ever a time for us to get off the mat it is now.

What exactly did CAL lose during both trips through bankruptcy? I am sure it was quite a bit.

I stand corrected. I wasn't taking into account block hours per pilot flown. The first chart doesn't mean much because it doesn't take into account augmented crew differences, but when you simply look at the differences in overall pilot costs and hours flown per pilot, you're right. Matters not, we're kind of like a couple of hookers arguing over who's the *****. The big picture is we're badly lagging the industry and need big improvements in the JCBA over either contract.

Agree 110% that mgmt spends more time jerking our chain than running an Airline. That being said, just spoke to a guy today (very nice person) hired in '98. Reserve CA and just flew a FO trip for scheduling. We should not be doing this. I don't, and will not fly an FO trip when on reserve or anytime. It's dangerous to say the least.

He will probably beeyotch and moan about ALPAs inability to get him the contract he wants as well. Just looking at our performance numbers one can infer that the combined UCAL pilot group is either pretty happy or (sadly) has zero ambition and zero spine.
At this time management has minimal respect for us and is in no hurry to negotiate. If I were one of them, I'd be laughing at over Martinis and a Cohiba at Ruth Cris or Mortons.
Leverage pi$$ed away, one pilot and one trip at a time.
