LCAL Profit Sharing 2011 Possibility
#41
True, a lot of CAL pilots are out for number 1, and spineless (it's by design/company culture). I'm not just talking about those hired in the mid 80's either.

I work with a bunch of great people on the CAL side. But, haven't you run into the "All about me .com" crowed along CAL's pilot spectrum. I've spent plenty of time in the right seat and ran across it there. Been in the left seat, and find it there too. I signed up for 80 hours a month 15/16 days off. Not 95+ (open time junkies) and 12 days off. How about line check airmen billing CAL well north of 100+ a month. Many more examples, but we're off topic. Just saying......

But then I don't want to detract from the entertainment value of agreeing that CAL is the only airline with some scabs left and a few hoes with no life outside the airport. Bottom line....are they a majority? No.

You are right the list goes on and on and on....
As I told the committee, profit sharing should be a non-negotiable item anyway. If the company has a profit sharing plan and they view employees as part of the team responsible for helping make that profit, then profit sharing should be paid to every employee on principle. We shouldn't even be discussing this at the table. It shouldn't be in ANY work group's contract. The board has authorized a profit sharing plan so pay it! If the company makes money, we all share in the success. If the company loses money, we all share by not getting any "extra" pay early in the new year.
Maybe because of labor and negotiating laws SOME type of statement needs to be in the contract, but that should be as simple as:
"So long as the company has a profit sharing plan in place, the pilots of United-Continental shall participate in that plan along with all other employee groups."

Yes it has. UAL, BK. NWA, BK. DAL BK. All had pay, benefits and work rules taken away by corporate thieves and a judge. CAL, not BK. We gave it away, and far more than the others had taken away by force. In 2010 UAL pilots got 13% more in pay and benefits than CAL pilots. DAL pilots 22% more.

And back to the thread topic, they all have contractual profit sharing while we go begging for a piece of the pie--and give away what? in the process. They have better BK contracts than we've ever had outside of BK. We are "United" now. If there were ever a time for us to get off the mat it is now.
