Default Places to live near ORD

Looking for leads on communities within 2 hours. Affordability, commute, crime, schools, etc. Also, anyone live within the orbit of one of the many colleges around there? Spouse is in academics. Thanks!

Many great areas. Big considerations: commute to ORD, school districts, ability to get around the "ex-burbs" (Kane, Will, Kendall, McHenry co's), tax base of town, access to services.

We have found great value in the NW Cook area. PM me if you need more info.

I'm glad you said "ORD" and not any other domicile. Not that Chicago is some great utopia, but it's about the only domicile that this crappy company probably hasn't considered closing. I'm pretty sure that there is Sr. VP. of Pilot Life Disruption on staff, and he/she is paid QUITE handsomely. Most efficient VP we have.

Sure! Only minus the 8 months of real crummy weather, absolutely the same! That made me actually lol.
AVOID aurora, glendale heights, maywood, Bolingbrook, rolling meadows, et al, unless you want your kids to join gangs in first grade! Nice places: naperville, downers grove, deerfield, arlington heights, buffalo grove, and many many others. Did I mention the weather?

Isn't Milwaukee a suburb of Chicago?

I'd say ORD, EWR and IAH are the only "safe" domiciles in the new combined United.

As a half full kind of guy, I'd rather frame it as don't drop anchor in CLE. SEA, or DEN if you plan on driving to work for the rest of your career.
