Wendy's Video
Just saw the video Wendy put out today. She deliberately avoided names, but made clear that certain individuals/MEC members are going out of their way to make her life miserable, even if it disrupts MEC Business and the Contract and SOC/SLI process. As such, she is not seeking re-election next term. She seems to believe the video itself will trigger a recall.
Question: can someone say who these persons are? If not appropriate for this forum, name a domicile? Or initials?
My fear: if what she says is true, then they fight only for the sake of fighting. I'm afraid these clowns will throw away scope, work rules, seniority, etc, as long as they get what they want.
At the moment, I don't have a dog in this fight. But I would hope that those who do would be able to shoot down a hostile bandit at the polling booth.

What did Wendy's video message mean?
I am confused by Wendy's recent video message. She says she is stepping aside, then says she will serve until the end of the year. I guess she will finish out her term, but not seek reelection?
I didn't know things were so bad at the MEC level, but I guess being furloughed tends to leave one in the dark. I think this would be more appropriate to post on an internal board, but it is my understanding that the UAL pilot's board is still shut down?
Wow, I'm still taken aback a bit by her message. How will we ever get a contract and get recalled if things are that bad with the MEC?

It is most of the West Coast Domiciles. It is ridiculous. This has been going on since Wendy was elected. I really don't care if you like Wendy or not, but we should be fighting a common enemy not play these political games. Let's get a contract together then fight about the rest.

"This only works if we see a new MEC chairman who is untainted with and unencumbered by any of the MEC politics of the last four years. To secure the contract we deserve and to resurrect the safety culture we can once again be proud of, we need a functional MEC and functionality cannot be achieved by the election of a candidate who simply flips the votes and perpetuates the same splits and same battles. "
Gerry Baldiwn is a veteran of Texas International, Continental Air Lines, and United Air Lines and has served as a ALPA Trade Unionist for over 30 years. He served the pilots as UAL MEC Vice Chairman in the early 90's under Rick Dubinsky and Roger Hall and has a proven track record of successfully defending the UAL CBA as a member of the System Board of Adjustment (Grievance "Supreme Court") for the last 10 years.
Check out his web site via the link above, read his platform, and if you like what you see contact your LEC officers and make your voice heard. That last point cannot be overstated! You MUST contact your LEC officers and let them know how they are to represent you, as a line pilot, you don't get a vote in this election.
