I was amazed that Wendy got into office in the first place she help write the POS contract their pilots are working under now......

Like I said, time to get someone with some **** in office, literally

Time for someone like... "OUR MAN" Duane???

WASHINGTON, Oct 18 (Reuters) - ....
But the disintegration of industry leading contracts and pension deals, as well as wholesale reductions in airline operations during bankruptcies at US Airways Group Inc. (LCC.N: Quote, Profile, Research), UAL Corp.'s (UAUA.O: Quote, Profile, Research) United Airlines, Delta Air Lines Inc. (DALRQ.PK: Quote, Profile, Research) and Northwest Airlines Corp. (NWACQ.PK: Quote, Profile, Research) provided a platform for Prater.

Woerth, a former board member at Northwest, was not available for comment.

If you look at his past posts, looks like a Delta North pilot.

At first, I thought this DC10 guy was a little rude, but, the more I read his rants, the more I realize that he is just a completely jaded, disappointed, pi$$ed off airline pilot. He has seen this industry just take a complete and collective crap on us all. As someone who has spent almost half of my 12 years at United on furlough, I have to wonder what the past ALPA leaders true intentions were, and what the hell is going on with our present leaders. I wish I was smart enough to just change careers already.

BTW. with cost of living increases and a 10 year plus old BK POS agreement you are not even making the same pennies you made in 2002....

Hopefully, ALPA can pull off a miracle and get it together.

Keep up the good work
For starters, sweetheart.... DUH. You don't think we know the poo sandwich we are eating? You got any suggestions for how to alter out course their Einstein? Ch 11 and an injunction = neutered. Under the RLA act, there is only so much that can be done, but like I said, Wendy dropped the ball BIGTIME early in this merger. Many of us are counting the days until her term ends.

But don't come on here acting like King Ding a Ling because you have a better contract.... as if you had ANYTHING to do with it. You're "facts" are a little jacked too, son. UAL pilots were no more responsible for the age 65 change than any other group. Perhaps you are thinking of SWA.

One thing that I DID get out of your post is that you must be a real JOY to fly with.

Riiiigggghhhhttttt. Because NWA has done so much for our industry.

At least we had a contract that actually raised the bar for the industry. Stolen in BK.

If we wanted your crappy contract we could have it TOMORROW. But we have already told them that is a total joke of an offer. Yeah boy.... The envy of the industry

You misspoke on one big item. Nobody, NOBODY, stole anything from us in bankruptcy. We voluntarily gave it up, under the recommendation of our ALPA leadership, which includes every @#$%ing knucklehead that is currently running UAL ALPA, on both sides of the current dogfight. But, as individuals, we each cast a vote. And every giveaway in bankruptcy was voluntary, as a huge majority voted "yes".

The reason you are all (sorry, I left) in this predicament is you don't have the cajones to stand up for yourselves. You talk big on this forum, but when push comes to shove, and your jobs are on the line, you capitulated. Every time.

My recommendation? A Saddam or Hitler style "purge". Vote every single current member of your LEC out, and direct them to vote every single MEC member out. All of them. Not a single one, no matter how "nice", or charismatic. Gone. Only then will you effect change.

A fresh start.

Maybe then, someday, my 4100 seniority number will be worth coming back to. Right now, I would rather flip burgers at Micky D's than work at UAL.

Probe,

I totally understand the frustration and points you are making. I would just encourage a different response.

While it is true that we gave away our contract, the pilot group was flat out lied to. Remember the legal term "managing expectations" by the crafty lawyer in this blood boiling Frontline video that I am sure you have seen; news + public affairs player: video Not trying to make excuses, just pointing out that United Pilots listened to liars, and will not be likely be headed down this path anytime soon.

It is true that our senior leadership has come up short, but I think it has just as much to do with us followers than our elected leaders. Do we really want to throw out everybody??? Much of the volunteer committee work from the MEC as of late has been truly outstanding! Just look at the very recent and huge victories of the Hotel committee, and ask if we really want a change there.

The timeline of our JCBA will be directly related to leverage. Leverage is something that needs to be done FOR our leadership, NOT BY our leadership. We have benefitted from the behind the scenes actions of line pilots like the gardener, now it is our turn. It is time for us ALL to lock step together... as the model self help soldiers of the movie Stripes said "That's the facts Jack"

Furloughed pilots could very well have a chance to directly be part of the solution through a CAL hiring provision of the TPA. I would encourage every furloughed pilot that bypassed CAL, to carefully research the LOA, vacation, or other time off options from current employers to know just how much time they could get off this next summer if needed. Remember we will likely have over a thousand pilots that will fall into this group after all those that need jobs get them...

GettinBumped has been a very active and vocal supporter of the United Pilots, including those on furlough. His response to an outside attack on our group is exactly what we need right now. We may not be flying the line at UAL right now Probe, but just like the rest of those on furlough, you and I ARE still United Pilots!

All the best with your adventures!

SP

I understand the frustration, and I'm tremendously sorry about the furlough. I also agree with your assessment of the way the MEC is behaving, AND your assertion that we got railroaded in Ch11.

Where we differ in opinion is what the proper course of action in Ch11 was. Many, in hindsight, say we should have voted NO to the POS contract in front of us. CLEARLY we gave more than we needed to, or should have, and Whiteford and his gang earned the vitriol they hear about themselves for the way they acted. However, I remember the 1113c contract management was asking the judge for. It had ZERO scope, way worse pay, FAR workrules, and no retirement. Would the judge have approved it? Probably depends on how convincing the UAL lawyers were, but if they claimed they needed it for the company to survive, I suspect the judge just might have given it to them. If you think life at UAL stinks now, imagine what it would have looked like under THAT contract. Worth risking it? I dunno, but the majority of pilots didn't think so. I hope that we can once again make UAL a place that you want to return to
