The counter to that is if there isn't a QRC then there is nothing to hang you on for not doing. Stabilize (be a pilot) and fly the plane.

How many pilots do you know that have been fired, suspended or disciplined over an unintentional action in the airplane? Aren't ALL the Hawaii flameout guys still flying? How about the 400 in SFO? Did any of those guys get fired?

Default CAL MEC Special Update

"Many of our pilots are receiving a range of “reminders” from the Company of the need to complete required training for Phase 2 of the single operating certificate project. Our pilots are always free to complete any training early. However, our CBA very clearly states specific timelines for training events that have qualification implications. In this case, management’s mandate for Phase 2 training fails to meet those contractual requirements. ALPA and management have agreed to take this issue to arbitration – on Tuesday, Sept. 27 – and further agreed that both sides will abide by the bench decision awarded on that day. Should we prevail in the arbitration, you will have until Oct. 31 to complete the training. Should management prevail, you will have to complete the training by Oct. 4. More information about the outcome of the arbitration hearing will be provided as soon as possible."

Quit whining about the phase 2 training and just get it over with. More time is spent complaining about it than doing it. B

That's not the point, as you well know. It's contract compliance. They want it done on a certain timeline in order to meet corporate goals. Not our problem.

The fact that the company even agreed to arbitration on this is a significant change for the company/union. Two years ago the company would have just told the union to pound sand and dequal folks if necessary.

While PMG training is a small issue, the process is not minor. They are starting to realize, to their frustration, that they are not king, but the RLA process is. That is a good thing going forward when we get to much larger issues.

I haven't gotten any direction on this from anyone. Where did this come from? I'm in C-33. Is this from one of the other councils?

Thanks

It's a CAL deal. Contract says we've got to 31 Oct to complete PMG Phase II CBTs, company says lost qual after 4 Oct if not done. Both agreed to instant arbitration on 27 Sep.

Thank you. I've heard nothing re: arbitration on this stuff from anyone at UAL.

That's easy for you to say, the training on the bus is a joke. How about wholesale changes to SOP, flows and PROCEDURES from a book. You know, all the stuff United has always taught in the FBS and the sim.

That's because UAL contract doesn't have anything to cover the time table, that I'm aware, of in the contract.

The note I received was anyone (UAL) who failed to complete the training by 9/30/11 will go NQF. Which means no pay!
