UPA: United Pilot's Association

If the folks spending time and money to create a new union put their time and effort into working with what they have we'd all be better off. Something about pilots makes for way too many Chiefs and not nearly enough Indians.
More pay . . . good.
Less pay . . . bad.
More jobs . . . good.
Fewer jobs . . . bad.

Maybe you should ask your own LEC F/O REP to with working with what they have versus using union funds to conduct special MEC meetings and trying to get the MEC Chair recalled incessantly we would not be a turtle on our backs.
While your are at it can you ask him why he went NQ for landings as an Airbus F/O? All those ALPA drops and special meetings and what domwe have to show for it as a pilot group. Gridlock courtesy of the a few select members of the MEC that believe we need a guy like Wallach as the MEC Chair. His tenure turned out so well I can see why they would want him back <tic>

Murk,
I think we could finish this over a couple of beers. We ALL ssat there and said" Look at those damn turboprops, nobody wants to fly them....." That said, I never voted to give em damn JETS!!
You are right on the scared pilot group. The reason you cant find anyone who voted for it, they are no longer here. They either retired, or are fulroughed. And dont forget, an MEC lead by none other than Swindell's that lead us down the road to perdition....he is still trying to save his name on the other forum, and change his history.......weak leadership leads to disastrous results.....OBAMA????? Oh thats another thread....
Best,
J

The mid-term wage adjustment in 1997, that allowed the 50 seat RJ's......or C2000 that allowed even more of them, but we got huge payraises (well some did, the junior folks not so much) so it was ok.
C2003 (BK) allowed the 70 seaters. Later Whiteford's side letter allowed the EMB 170 as an exception to the MTOW restriction.
And you need to check your facts. Swindells was NOT on the MEC at the time of BK or C2003. But Barton was.

The current MEC said the previous one was "toxic" and we "need to engage the company".
Uh huh... that plan is working out great.
I think the word we are all looking for here is "PUNKED".
BTW, I have spoken with my LEC reps frequently over the past 1 1/2 years and despite not liking her, um, method of taking office, they have given her support in dealing with the company and have not badmouthed her to me in public or private.
The recall effort was generated by the (frustrated) membership, and when the MEC chair shrugs that off to politics, it is clear that she is out of touch with reality.
CAPTION CONTEST!
Winner gets my entire portfolio of ESOP stock!

I'll take a stab at a caption. How about "UAL MEC Chair visits with UA CEO. After the pilots gave great amounts of money via the ESOP to gain a board seat the ALPA chair engages with the CEO in direct dialogue. Thus the pilots regain value for the money invested. This in direct contradiction to previous MEC Chair that refused to attend the board meetings that we paid millions to have a voice within."
