Question Food for thought on transition agreement pay

The way I read the TPA it looks like we go over at the pay rate we left UA, or The payrate for our actual longevity at CAL. (new hire pay) So obviously we were paid more at UA so that would be our rate. What if we get stuck with a 757 EWR, that means we would make the same as if we got 737. Any other interpretations?

If I understand it correctly, you'll make what you were making at UAL when you were furlough until the CAL pay rate on your equipment catches up. First year at CAL is what, $31/hr? You were probably making more at UAL. When you get to 2nd or 3rd year at CAL and that CAL pay rate is higher than your UAL pay rate, you'll make the CAL pay rate.

Exactly, so why pick a 75 rsv for years over 737 is my point.

Good question. It can depend on where you are planning on being based. In EWR, the 737 and 756 are almost identical in seniority because they downsized/displaced a bunch of flying to IAH a couple of years ago. There are no crystal balls, but as of right now there isn't too much seniority difference between junior line holders in either equipment. If/when you can hold a line on the 756, it will most likely be commutable, even to the most junior line holders, due to the report/release times of the international trips that make up the majority of the flying out of the EWR756 base. Living in the DC area (just assuming you do in this case), it would be relatively easy to commute home between two back to back 3days. A lot of the 737 flying is non-commutable on at least one, if not both, ends.

Plus.. with the 757, reserve or not, 99% of the flying is one leg to somewhere and one leg home. You won't have to "deal with EWR" like you do on the 737.

Good points, I guess I just hate giving them any labor at a "discount"!
