Anyone who thinks the value of publicizing the conflict is
to get passengers on your side, is clearly missing the point.

Notice how the slant of the article makes management look like they are want something and the pilots are asking for too much??
Again....."Company" propaganda!! Please don't buy/get sucked into it strictly on Jeff's writings!!

The $1.3B is the company's story. I would like to see what the JNC/Union's number's are countering that claim. What do you want to bet the JNC's numbers would be less?? Was is NOT Jeff and the Wall St. talking heads predicting a conservative economic synergy to be on the neighborhood of $1.2-1.4B with this merger?? With that ecomomic info, and the company's "hyped" difference, I would bet that the above quote is just what Jeff WANTS people (customers, public, even some 'co-works') to believe.

I will continue to let the JNC hash it out and get the JCBA we ALL deserve....but I'm NOT going to sit idly by either.....especially when CAL's MEC Chair personally called this 'ballot notice' to go in front of our CPO's. After all, this was not thought up by some rogue group of 'bubbas' over 'beverages' on an overnight was it??

Exactly, that number's not for the public, they don't get it.
It's there to sway some pilots into expecting less.
History has shown that mgmt. will cry poverty through any means possible
to sway pilot resolve. Stick to what you deserve, not what they say they have.

SoCalGuy, I agree with you that it is BS! My point is the general public does not know this and the press makes them believe management. That is why the photo's of the NO's on chief pilot doors should have stayed with the pilots.

We are going to fight an even larger uphill battle if we fight this in PUBLIC.

Agreed-however, getting them on management's side shouldn't be the goal either.

Don't mean to be rude, but you guys are completely missing the point of publicizing this.
Who is on who's side is irrelevant.
And your fear of public perception is something mgmt. is playing against you.
You're doing exactly what mgmt. wants by fearing what the public thinks of you.
Remember, mgmt. is using pilot fears/greed to weaken resolve.

But the public does matter, just not in the way you're portraying it.
Study summer 2K and you'll understand how public perception is a huge
power in our favor, but it has nothing to do with who's side they're on.

MB-

So what you're telling me is that we (the soon to be new UAL Pilot Group) needs to pick and choose what we 'allow' the media to report on concerning our journey towards a top rate JCBA??? It's OK for the reporters/writers to cover the "Willis Walk," Pilots Picketing the Stock Holders Event in ORD, or in IAH.....but we are to keep this specific event (that CAL's MEC Chair called for) in the closet?? I'm sorry, but again I don't follow your logic. It's either all in unity/support, or just pack it up and fold to the company.

It was NMB's mediator McGuckin who told both sides to keep their negotiations out of the 'public' eye. The company chose to set/BRING a PUBLIC propaganda based website "live". The recent picture that was published in a 'blog' by a Houston Chronicle writer was nothing more than our 'private' (Pilot group to CP's-aka mid mgt) display in response to an already public proposal made available by Jeff & his Mgt. To me, those two are day a night difference.

I don't mean to be an a-hole, but after flying a recent HTA trip with a Captain who did nothing but 'complain' how much he as 'given' this company (who also happened to be one of our "00-Number-Number-Letter" '84 hero's), my patience meter is pegged as you can well see.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on the topic. Let's just try and look beyond this and keep the group unified is nothing less.
