Credit Hours vs. Quality of life don't have to be mutually exclusive. I hope that the ALPA contract will provide for those who can't make it on $150/yr and need to fly 100 hours/month, just as it will allow for those who want to chase more days off.

With adequate scope and duty rig, you can have your cake and eat it too.

I'm sure this idea could apply to the AFA contract, and to be sure, AFA will have to represent the wishes of it's new members. The vote to elect AFA was not a mandate by any stretch. UAL had 60% more votes, but AFA only won by 6%. Obviously there are many UAL F/A's who like what they see at CAL. If AFA continues business as usual, I'd expect to see them off the property before too long. Come to think of it, that applies to ALPA too!

An I hope it will not. With 1500 pilots on the street, no one should be flying 100 hours per month.

Anything managment doesnt want is most surely a win for the rest of us regardless of how it comes about !!! That said I was looking forward to the grannies getting on their brooms and heading west into the sunset if IAM got in. Looks like the only hope of that happening is an early out being offered...and I dont see that happening...at least not with a decent packge that might make them take it.

Yep........and the CAL FA's are about to get the screwing of their life AGAIN. They are a real junior workforce. I have a feeling the proverbial "excrement" is about to hit the fan. The CAL FA's we're not only given some MAJOR paycuts but they're going to the back of the line too. Nothing like a double whammy....................

Maybe so, but ****ed off FA's is not who I want to be flying with. I'm also still having a hard time trying to figure out how 80+ year old FA's can pass "evacuation" procedures and tests. Hell, I know 60 year old FA's that have NO business being on a plane.

A wiser man would keep his condescending remarks to himself.

What's condescending about the truth? Sorry, but some FA's (pilot's too) KNOW they shouldn't be doing this job. When someone's life is on the line is not the time to determine you're not "fit" enough to do the job. Seeing's how you show yourself as a fireman, would you like having someone in charge who couldn't handle the job? I guess you'd just let everyone slide rather than be "condescending". Sorry, that's not the mark of a leader, and that's EXACTLY how non-qualified people get jobs they shouldn't be doing.

So, you gonna take the $250,000 the company offered and go? I was looking forward to the grandpa's getting on their scooters and heading west into the sunset. Cuts both ways you know.

Most of the older FA's would be gone by now had the company not stolen their pension. They have as much right to their job as you do.

The work rules differences when ALL THE FLYING, CAL/UAL, is combined will mean furloughs under the CAL contract. Dude, this isn't about CAL verses UAL it is about one contract which is beneficial for the combined group!

Even the FA's know that giving away work rules is far harder to recoup than pay. Of course you might be one of those who likes working 100 hours a month (DH included) and have no life at home.

One airline, One Contract and One Pilot group!

Missing your point here. You said if CAL won, 1000's would be furloughed. UAL won and it seems there will still be furloughs. IAM wanted to bring the UAL FA's over the same way UAL pilots would be brought over to CAL when hiring starts but AFA said no. The point I have is to the CAL FA's the UAL contract is not beneficial. Who the hell wants to work a line one month and reserve the next?
