Have not been seeing guys doing it on the 777 fleet in a while, except for the lca's that have 30-50 hours in the bank and are saving the world.

You know, we could have helped the cause back in 09 when the furlough mitigation negotiations were going on, by lowering the cap to either 80 hours and/or putting the JM provision in suspense. But instead, as I remember so vividly from one of the phone teleconference, our MEC would not consider it because they viewed it as "concessionary" and a financial burden on those who have gotten use to 95 hrs + a month.
As the joke goes, UAL's pilots have already established that they're hoars - now it's just a question of dickering over the price. For anyone on property to be offended by fellow hoars turning more tricks is sheer hilarity.
(and yes, I know the correct spelling but so does the censorship filter)

You might be right odds-wise, but imho we need to not put the cart before the horse.
Pilots have historically undershot and underprepared to go to battle with management.
How many guys are fully strike funded for six months? I'm liquid for a year.
We need to go in like it will be the worst case, and if it's not and is better
than doom and gloom, then great. But we shouldn't start with that lighter presumption,
even if the odds favor it, because people then can't afford the odds failing.
(strike breaking by mgmt. or shutting the airline down)

I used to think that doctors were really stupid with money until I started flying at United. Hands down, pilots are financial idiots.

This is why scope will be only a pipe dream, when it comes down to it these pilots will look out for there own selfish interests. They (mgmt) will dangle the carrot and watch them all jump for it.
