New Flying Announced...manpower positive?

If they say FURLOUGH, it is not about who has the balls to do it. As part of the 2172 (two time UAL Furloughee), I realize we are just a poker chip in this big POKER GAME. This is the fact, nothing personal on company or ALPAs side. I should be mad at CAL furloughees flying some of the old TED routes. I should be upset about the CAL LAX flying that I should be flying. I should be disappointed that CAL did not call any of us UAL furloughees this summer despite being very short staffed. I know getting emotional does not help, it just hurts more. I really want a company to come back to sometime in the future. United Airlines was a world class airline when I got hired in 1999.
Lorenzo took Reagan's relaxed corporate laws and destroyed CAL and its pilot group. If today's Lorenzo (Smisek) is stopped from putting CAL's work rules on the new UAL, and more so if the JCBA can actually reverse the entire industry trend to Walmart wages and benefits, furloughs should return. Admittedly it could take awhile.

There simply is no new flying allowed out of that base per the agreement.
That being said I'm sure that it is very difficult for the furloughees to sit and watch CAL open a base in LA even though the flying isn't new.

In all fairness, has anybody been tracking the difference in block hours between UAL/CAL since last fall? Next question would be whether RJ hours are stripped out.
I would think/HOPE our MEC's would have demanded and tracked this data from mgmt since day 1 of the merger, seems like the only practical thing to do. Of course we are talking about ALPA

The only thing the TPA prohibited was LAX based crews doing flying that was not already in LAX prior to the merger announcement. Despite the rumors LAX shouldn't get beyond the 60 crews staffed there. In any event, we all belong the same holding company and that holding company is free to start shifting flying around and already is. I expect PMUA crews will soon be doing flying to TLV to go with GUM, LIM, and the Europe flying to be done out of EWR. So if the company wants to do more 737 flying out of LAX those destinations cannot be flown by the LAX crews. They can do all the "optimization" they want but they are still going to be hamstrung by having to DH everyone around until they get off their ass and and start saying "yes" to a JCBA.

This isn't aimed at you Bandera but I see this incorrectly quoted all the time around here. CAL is not doing ANY flying out of LAX that did not exist before the merger. None, Zero, Nada. Every single route being flown out of LA was done pre-UAL by crews from other bases.

My response was to the above quote. Continental is doing new flying out of LA. The TPA allows it because the crews are not based in LA, but this is unquestionably "new" flying.

Here's my take on what will happen from here. The 737 will get ramped up in LA. This "new" base thing is just a precursor to a much larger 73 presence that Smizey wants. The million dollar question is will it happen before or after we merge Pilot groups?
For the sake of unity I hope it happens afterwards.

I like the premise of your idea but IMO, we have no control over the cross flying.
