Also,
LAS-SFO and an occasional LAX-SFO. I'm quite sure that this will continue for the foreseeable future on BOTH sides but the CAL LAX domicile took nothing from UAL. CAL was doing ALL of those flights before the merger in some form or fashion from multiple CAL based crews. The SFO and LAX ITO flights are NOT done with LAX crews but with CLE crews.

Not to mention the idiotic TPA which will allow smisek to furlough more UAL geeks as the flying shifts to CAL. If you had stripes on your tie you might not take such a cavalier approach.
He wants to ***** slap us. It's part of the deal he worked out with tilton. Corp America and UAL in particular hates organized labor. They're still paying us back for the ESOP and C2000.

Considering it takes 2 months minimum to put an agreement in place, we are only 3 SHORT MONTHS away from the whipsaw.
WAKE THE EFF' UP PEOPLE!!!
I can just hear it now:
Sept, 2011
"Well guys, if we don't get this agreement done, we are going to have to furlough XXX United pilots because we are going to close SEA and JFK. I really wish we could work something out before it comes to that." -Signed, Smilton
They are going to use the expiring sections of the TPA to try and force ALPA to bring a substandard agreement to the pilots. Then they are going to try and use the expiring sections of the TPA to scare 50.1% into voting for it.

The expiring sections of the TPA don't affect the majority... yet, so I don't think you'll get 50.1% to take the bait this time. And we don't exactly have a history of falling on our own swords to protect the junior folks (at either UAL or CAL).

they dont have the balls to furlough anymore-- its a complete empty threat and bluff that wont work--- think of jlo'a face when the mec chairperson says-- " go ahead" you see their threats mean nothing if they carry no substance and the other party knows it.

That is correct. United airplanes are doing flights out of EWR to some European destinations as well. Shifting airplanes around the system. As I recall it was taking smaller CAL planes off some EWR to Europe routes and putting bigger United planes on them.

I believe Brussels and Zurich will be operated by UAL from EWR soon, and CAL adds AMS to the IAD flying along with the CDG we started this month.

Furlough Bluff, I don't think so...
If they say FURLOUGH, it is not about who has the balls to do it. As part of the 2172 (two time UAL Furloughee), I realize we are just a poker chip in this big POKER GAME. This is the fact, nothing personal on company or ALPAs side. I should be mad at CAL furloughees flying some of the old TED routes. I should be upset about the CAL LAX flying that I should be flying. I should be disappointed that CAL did not call any of us UAL furloughees this summer despite being very short staffed. I know getting emotional does not help, it just hurts more. I really want a company to come back to sometime in the future. United Airlines was a world class airline when I got hired in 1999.
