FO pay $150K? I only made $145 as a captain! I'd love to make $150. I made $90K last year.

OttoL:

When I hear someone whining about 150K as a F/O and their three kids in private school it reminds me of when the BK happened at UAL and several retired and near retirement captains. In our local news they mentioned how tough it was going to be and how they would have to sell their mountain cabin, second home in Hawaii and their airplane to make ends meet.

All I can say is wow. I hope there aren't too many more like you or we are definitely screwed. I remember when our contract maxed out our monthly time at 82 hours. Those were the days. Why in the world would you want to work more than that? Over 100 hours a month? Internationally? That's just a one way ticket to an early grave.

QUESTION? How does a guy fly 100 month hard time and not run into legality issues?

If you can't make it on 150K maybe you should put your kids in a different school?

Sounds like someone who answers his phone, you know, to help himself out.
He should be in the thread about Junior Manning winners!

100 Hours a month? Wow, are you guys getting scheduled to that amount every month? Or is that dipping into the open time.

And you want more?

Looking at most of UAL's B777 July Line Awards, it looks like the 'high' side is in the neighborhood of 88hrs (+/-45mins). To chase your 100hr months, appears you dabble in the BES OT on a regular basis??

I'm all for giving our families the 'best', but when it means that you do so with 1400+ fellow pilots on the street, your doing no one any favor's (including yourself) in the long run for this 'new' company. I'm sure FLIB's thanks your for your dedication/heroism in padding his fashion account.

As you pointed out, you've been around this industry for a few years.....thus nothing should surprise us in the labor v mgt. It's our time to make a stand, and helping out the company is not the solution!

Like you, I've have had enough. Without a doubt, I've long since decided that I will die standing, not on my knees as we take it to mgt in this JCBA journey. Are you prepared to stand with us if through proper channel's we are released by the NMB??

We've ('former' CAL Pilots) been saying this for YEARS, he does NOT get it!! He's not a new accouterment to CAL, been around for over 15 years showing his colors in the wings, prior to his present time in the current big chair.

Don't fool yourselves into thinking Jeff doesn't get it because he's not doing what you want.
Smisek graduated top of his class at both Princeton and Harvard Law and was a top
securities lawyer at Vinson & Elkins before Bethune recruited him.
Bethune has stated multiple times that he's one of the sharpest people he knows.

He knows exactly what he's doing and that is to fully
take advantage of pilot weaknesses to cut costs via any and all means.
He believes this is viable because the costs we've created through minimal resistance
are minor compared to the savings they've reaped. This has to change.
Basically, he gets it, that we're weak and easily influenced by fear and greed.
It's time we make him get it, absolutely and completely, that we're unbreakable this time.
Then, and only then, will he move on to other cost savings and revenue improvements.

I don't want to fly 100 hours any more than most pilots but I've always had a problem with limits. Why 82? Why not 85? Why not 66 or 50? The point is we have pilots on both sides of the table that simply love to CONTROL pilots. Mgmt does it through company rules and regs and the union does it through a contract. I think limits are a necessary evil but I get a kick out of pilots telling other pilots they should be able to live on XXXXX dollars because they do.
