Default Airlines (CAL) get more time over seats

The Koito seat issue is ongoing. Here in the US it is mostly affecting Continental Airlines. Looks like UCAL is going to get up to 6 years to replace any defective seat that doesn't pass new tests.

Aren't the seat issue and DirectTV installation connected? They're waiting to install the TV until the plane is in for the seats? If so, this would mean no TV in those planes for six years.

The seat issue and the new planes in service without entertainment are related.

Continental had eight or nine 737s sitting up at Boeing for weeks-months because Koito could no longer deliver seats after this came out. Boeing eventually agreed to supply some of their seats as loaners. Typically the planes are then delivered and go to MCO for their LiveTV installation. However, since the seats are Boeing's, the company can't do that. Hence they are flying around the system without any entertainment (even though many of them still have the "LiveTV" sticker installed by the door. You can tell these airplanes by the huge amount of legroom in the first row of first class when you make the turn down the aisle.

I doubt the company will wait six years to replace these seats on loan from Boeing, though. The others, probably. Then again, they only have to be replaced if they are part of a batch that fails new or further tests from what I understand.

To that end, I am not sure why the company can't dedicate these airplanes to the shorter (less than 3 hours) routes, instead of some of the transcon stuff they have been on.

Still 2 B737's each way (today), total of 4....IAH-DFW & DFW-IAH.

There's Q's, and RJ's....but the B737 is still in the DFW market.

AUS & SAT still have 8 B737's each on the IAH outbound alone....All 3 markets are an 'hour' less in flt time.

DCA had a lot of mainline to EWR at one point too. Then they got a few RJ's, then some more, then still more. Then they got the Q up their A. No more mainline.

As did DCA, so did the A-T-L......look at 'em now. That was then, this is now......DFW will probably follow suit.

AUS, and SAT.....not so much as we stand.
