I know our contract well, and sharpshoot it every chance I get. It's a hobby of mine.

Every time my million mile, Premier Exec for life neighbor writes one, he is rewarded with miles and an apology.
Your right sorry I am now sure we will get an indusrty leading contract all due to your Captain turning off channel 9 and of course your neighbor writing letters.

Agreed to all, unfortunately, about 80% of the pilots I fly with don't know, or care to know what is in our contract. Amazing, but true. For my part, I make less than a 2nd year SWA F/O, and while very senior in my seat with 16 years at UAL, think that is absurd. I do see both sides of this argument, but if I had a choice (and I did until I got bumped for the second time out of the left seat), channel 9 would be off. The threat is too high with zero reward. JMHO. I am sick of being played, and that's what all of this feels like to me.

I would suggest that if EVERY pilot turned ch 9 off and kept it that way it would make an impression. The turning of the gizmo off in and of itself, won't do anything of significance, but the show of solidarity would be noticed.

Sure just like taking our hats off. How bout solidarity by not jrm, or picking up or lca's flying 30 hours extra per month.
Are we supporting the pilot that had the altercation with cs in den?

How about showing up at the silly roadshow at the domiciles and letting them no how we feel, one right after another pointed questions and if there is no decent answer ask again.

Case closed. So I fully expect the company to drag out our draconian contracts for as long as possible. What's the rush? Us Airways is doing just fine financially, "synergies" or not. Oh, and remember to taxi single engine, use channnel 9, and cut that apu usage for gosh sakes!! Smisek is counting on it. He said so in his speech last week.
I agree, the FAA has no grounds or precedent to deny SOC because of contract/SLI issues. And UCAL will do everything in there power to prevent any delay in SOC.....it provides further ability to execute end arounds on our contract, where legal or illegal Smilton doesn't care. I agree it is obvious at this point that the company's "tactic" is simply to rely on the incredible advantage that the RLA gives them to delay any meaningful progress on a new contract....while reaping the profits that 2 concessionary contracts give them. If the UAL guys haven't noticed yet CAL management does one thing really well......OUTSOURCE...I would suspect that in the next 2 years the merged airline will no longer be the largest.
