Last rumor I heard was that CAL/UAL will park another 100 airframes by the end of 2012. Of course, it's just a rumor, so take it for what its worth. Until they are parked rumors are worthless. I did expect at least 150 airframes to be parked by the merger, so It won't be a surprise for me when/if it happens.

Look, I didn't mean to open a Pandora's Box, I just wanted to point out to kc that it sounded like he was saying that being put ahead of CAL's 147 was a given, when in fact no one knows anything about what an arbitration panel will do a year or three from now and should be prepared for a worst case scenario.

If I was a betting man...the merger date announcement will be the snapshot. There were 1437 UAL guys/gals and 147 CO guys/gals furloughed. The active pilots on both lists will be merged and then the inactive pilots of 1 CO pilot for every 10 UAL pilots. That's the way I see this playing out...JMHO. Our fight is with management securing an industry leading contract in work rules, retirement, pay etc...not with the SLI that we have NO control over.

There will always be a person that trys to spread doom and gloom...no matter what. Last I looked...they parked 100 airframes to right size for the merger anyway.

So you expect the longevity provision of the ALPA merger policy to be abandoned during the first merger it has been in place for? Sounds like the basis of a DFR lawsuit.

Dude, your right, nobody knows and anything can happen. I don't want to get into this anymore than anyone else as it is a waste of time for us to just bicker here.

WarEagle-

Completely agree with you as well in regards to mgmt being the issue right now. However, I respectfully disagree that we have no control over SLI, even though it is technically correct. There are a lot of things we can agree to ahead of time, lessening the issues the panel has to wade through, especially due to the amount of time left on the clock. Yet minds seem already made up that it will be both sides trying to take the most advantageous position possible, all at the expense of the other. We can do better.

Call my Pollyanna or just naive but those are my thoughts.

I gave my opinion, that's all. I'm in the CO 147, even though we've been recalled, I believe that snapshot will be when we were still furloughed. People can argue longevity, career expectations, aircraft orders, downsized for merger...etc. This will be the first merger with the longevity provision...it depends on how the arbitrator "weighs" each situation. I know that I'll be on the bottom and I'm fine with that, we deserve a great contract, that's what I care about.

With additional all due respect, not a single UAL pilot is tired of hearing it. Not the guppy Captains or the 320 captains who got bumped back to the right seat, not the 400 and 777 F/Os who got bumped back to the 67 and bus fleets, not the junior guys remaining who will take it in the shorts after 1/1/2012 and especially not the 1500 guys who are now shoveling shiit just to get by, and who are preparing to get reamed in the SL integration by guys with 2 years at CAL
Oldmako,

Fixed it for you . There are a pile of us who were surplussed out of the left seat of the bus too .

There will be several snapshots, from the one taken on the merger announcement date all the way to just before the lists go to the arbitrator. However, how he weighs each one is up to him I suppose.
