Negotiating update. More of the same.
The company delays and devalues us as always. (Emphasis mine.)
NEGOTIATING - JNC
The JNC this week received management’s proposals on Section 5 – Hours of Service and Section 22 – International. The two parties spent much of February in discussions of scheduling rules. The JNC believed these discussions would lead to fruitful and productive proposals that would expedite the JCBA process. While the JNC became increasingly frustrated with the delays in receiving these proposals, including last week’s Section 20 – Scheduling, we continued to give the Company the time they required to craft their proposals. The proposals from management this week on Sections 5 and 22 cannot be considered anything other than substandard to both pilot groups. Most pilot issues that the JNC and its scheduling experts discussed with the Company’s counterparts were not addressed in management’s proposals this and last week. The JNC does not believe the proposals sought by the Company are in line with an expedited JCBA process.
The JNC will continue its efforts to secure the JCBA our pilots deserve. Management has indicated that they expect to pass Section 8 - Filling of Vacancies next week. The JNC will be working on counters to Sections 5, 20, and 22 and will continue to meet with management every week to work through these issues.
As always, please stay connected to the process by reading updates from the MEC and your local council representatives.

Hmmm, you must have seen some other literature published that said there would be a ratified JCBA by last October. Nowhere did I read this or hear a representative or any MEC officer state this. The only thing I heard anyone say that may have SOUNDED similar to this was an MEC officer stating, "We can have a contract in place by October if the company starts learning to say 'yes' to our proposals." Hardly think that is even close to the same thing.

You're exactly right, I was wrong to say "JNC", what I meant was MEC members that I talked to prior to the ratification of the Transition Agreement. I have no direct contact with the JNC and I stand corrected.
What I meant to say (if I may), was that I had strong concerns last summer with the optimism expressed by some MEC members (UAL types) who genuinely thought a JCBA would be reached and ratified by Christmas. I'm not the only one who saw the 12/31/2011 date as an area of concern, but it's what we have to work with like it or not.
