I agree....not a fan.....but not in the mood to get into a $hiting contest with the Fed's (as per their concerns according to the line-check) on a trivial issue that's in writing either.

BTW....The memo say's "United Livery", nothing about "Star Alliance".....That is until Starly ink's another memo making that 'addition'.
You are correct that we did get a bulletin but I'd love to see where its written in the FAR's. How's about all the theme paint jobs from Alaska and Southwest. I know you didn't make the policy but its absolutely ridiculous and I don't do it.

Agreed....I'm not wild about it as I stated earlier.....but seeing that the FED's are going to be crawling up our arses over the next 12-18 months during this Merger/integration, doing what they have 'asked' per written bulletins from Flt Ops (as the Check-Airmen re-enforced) sure as heck will NOT get ur a$$ in a sling either. If the "omition" of the perscribed/written procedure is found to be a contributing factor in a "ground incident", I'm sure that it will NOT be overlooked by the FED's or the company......Just say'in.

As you've stated earlier, run it how you want "Captain".

I flew with one guy who was uncomfortable not doing it so I said fine, be my guest. The other 99% agreed with me and didn't do it. I'll bet that Check Airman is spreading boogie man stories similar to the one about feds digging through the trash looking for RVSM compliance.

Bottom line, if feel you must do it, have at it but you'll never catch me doing so.

Nothing worse than a question being asked about an EX UAL airplane where they try and Hide Who's doing the asking. We can aleady see the maintenence history on 8194.

background: I am a twice furloughee from UAL, I fly for Atlas now. I just did our online differences training on our "new aircraft." That aircraft is N194UA. One of the differences from our -400s is the fact that when the left or right A/P is selected the flight director disappears on the selected side. My question still stands...why the heck does the plane do that? Our -400s don't....same darn airplane(maybe newer avionics?). I would love to call SAMC but I am pretty sure they(you) do not want to hear from a pilot at Atlas. Nothing nefarious (spelling?) intended, I thought it was just an honest question. Now not wanting to write a huge post (I am not Neil after all ) That is all I got a say about that.

Cheers!

-Todd

PS mostsly just mad because UAL decided they can't make money using this airframe so they lease it to my current company who is planning on making money with it!

All of ual's 757s and 767s are like that. Don't know about the 747. The FCCs can provide an A/P or a Flt Dir, but not both at the same time! So we fly around on the C A/P with Flt Dir on the L and R ADI. The story from the AIs is that United wanted to stress that a tripple channel autoland was just that....fully auto....so they blanked out the Flt Dir on the ADIs. I personally think they saved money somehow on some cheap FCCs, but that is just me. Kinda like leaving the 2nd j/s out of the 757s.

I'll second that - United needs to go back to the Tulip or the Mainliner schemes - they haven't had a decent one since then - with the latest being the worst.
