At first glance I thought the same but I think the agreement called for Aer Lingus crews and aircraft - UAL provides ticketing and marketing.

No, Aer Lingus is using their existing aircraft for that debacle.

Prior to 9/11 Air Canada was in deep trouble and was facing a hostile takeover from an investment group that included AMR. Fearful of losing the Canadian STAR partner to OneWorld both UA and LH provided assistance. Along with some other transactions UA purchased the A330's from Air Canada and immediately leased them right back. This provided Air Canada some quick cash at a critical time.

I'm not sure that's not a problem.. Why don't you try calling UAL SAMC and asking the 747/777 Controller? And use your Name and Co so they know to whom they're talking to.
Nothing worse than a question being asked about an EX UAL airplane where they try and Hide Who's doing the asking. We can aleady see the maintenence history on 8194.

I think his post was TIC. I've never flown the whale, but in the 757/767 the FCC can only do one thing at a time (Flight director or autopilot) so when you select an AP the corresponding FD goes away. I always thought that was kinda wierd.... Maybe the whale is the same?

Saw the 400 in SFO. The new paint jobs are already peeling off the 320s btw.

There have been a lot of Mods in the past so That may or may Not be the case. I'm not up on the 747 Avionics. I have all I can do to keep abreast of the A320/A319. When we still has the 737-322/-522's we had a Situation similar to that and a Mode control panel mod and FlightControl computer cleared that up. But it won't hurt to sak

None of the wide bodies or 757's are listed on that page. You need to to go the previous page to see that list.

When "Jeff & The Gang" are looking for new Livery in the years to come, maybe you can get your 'broad' a 64 pack of Crayola and "getcha some of the cut"??

If you'd know what the puck your talking about, you may 'understand' why the 'novel length call-sign" is used. "Kinda" done per something called a Flt Ops Bulletin that was issued per the FAA's "asking" it to be done that way during the 'transitional period', take a read below. You know the FAA right??? The same folks that "hold" your certificate, or are you too cool for that as well??

The following procedures shall be used when operating Continental aircraft painted in the United
livery:
When communicating with ATC Tower, Ground Control, or with Ramp Control, or other entities that have visual contact with the aircraft, pilots operating a Continental aircraft in United livery shall communicate their call-sign as: “Continental XXX in United livery…”

Continental aircraft painted with the United livery will have a placard in clear view of the pilots (on the forward instrument panel) which indicates the aircraft is painted in United Airlines livery. This placard will be applied in accordance with an engineering order generated for each aircraft fleet based on forward real estate available on that fleet. Flight Deck Placard

Continental aircraft painted with the United livery will have the placard (displayed above) placed on the cover of the aircraft maintenance logbook.

Each dispatch release generated for a Continental Airlines flight operating in the new United Airlines livery will contain the notation “United Airlines Livery” in the remarks portion of the flight release.

I guess I'm asking for a see me letter as I request the F/O's I fly with not to do this ridiculous procedure. Never hear the Star Alliance aircraft exclaiming "Continental XXX in Star Alliance Livery". Even had a check airman tell me it was cumbersome and unnecessary.

That's funny.....Had a Line-Check to GIG a few weeks back in one of the "UAL Birds". When the FO made the call for push-back in IAH w/o "full litany", the Check-Airmen commented on us 'NOT' doing it, and how the Fed's are "expecting" to have it complied with/and have voiced their 'concern' on that since it's inception.

I agree....not a fan.....but not in the mood to get into a $hiting contest with the Fed's (as per their concerns according to the line-check) on a trivial issue that's in writing either.

BTW....The memo say's "United Livery", nothing about "Star Alliance".....That is until Starly ink's another memo making that 'addition'.
