I was supposed to work today and had a reserve assignment. Never underestimate the greed of my coworkers. Straight pick up and I'm off. I think UAL's contract doesn't allow this...

Still waiting to see if that holds up. I"m less than 10% in EWR 737 FO and they called and left me a message for an "opportunity".

Was there some before?

The 737s crews are worked to death right now and can't see anyone picking stuff up, but I know it happens. Aren't 777 schedules built to pretty high time? Is there room for a guy to pick up a 777 trip of all things and not edge up against legality? THE 777! We aren't talking a quick BOS turn with that thing after all.

Don't you just love those phone calls about these opportunities? They always (seriously, not being facetious) sound very pleasant, professional and caring when they leave the message. It gives me the warm fuzzies. Maybe it is the idea of getting results with honey as opposed to vinegar?

I wouldn't mind the opportunity to make more money, but I figure the JNC will take care of that for me with higher pay rates and my retro check. Until then I'd like to give my opportunity to those who are furloughed and need the money more than I do.

They displaced me off the 777 because they didn't want me sitting around on reserve. They got their wish!

Thanks for considering us furloughed guys at UAL. There are many out there at UAL that are flying a lot of extra hours..nice.

Sorry pard, I gotta call bull sheeet on that one. Most reserves at UAL are sittin' around doin nuthin. Aint no one I know flyin JRM and I aint even had a call for it in over a year (not that I'd do it anyhow - I'm out on the range on my days off).

Nope! I aint buyin that comment. I'm not sayin there aint the same percentage of jerks at UAL as there is at CAL and any other airline becuase THERE IS (human nature an all...), but please don't whip out that standard issue furloughed-guy billy club and think yer gonna beat us with it when the truth is that JRM events seem to be way down and UAL reserves are seein low utilization.

Most of us do consider you guys and would not pick up, that being said I have seen a few jrm on the 777 at ord. They are the exception from what I have seen.

If this is opening a 'can of worms'....I'll shut it.

For those at The CAL.....I heard through the grapevine sometime back that at UAL for those that felt 'so inclined' to reach out to scheduling for some "V-JM", and do a 'little extra flying' had a nice assortment of magazines piling up on their door as the month clicked on.....not all were "subject/content" of SI either....if you get my drift.

Just say'in
