Guess that includes me. Like it or not your policy was the exception rather than the rule industry wide
Not happy about retiree's going ahead of active but if it's only 4 times a year per retiree, that's the way it goes. And for those of you who can explain without name calling, doesn't the new policy consider only longevity vs DOH.

This is what will be implemented come 2012:
A.
Travel using a vacation pass by:
- Employees, retirees and their eligible accompanied pass riders
- Unaccompanied spouse/domestic partner* of an employee or retiree, and their accompanied eligible pass riders
B.Travel by the following pass riders when not using a vacation pass:
- Employees and their accompanied eligible pass riders
- Employees' unaccompanied spouses/ domestic partners* and their accompanied eligible pass riders
C.Travel by the following pass riders when not using a vacation pass:
- Retirees and their accompanied eligible pass riders
- Retirees' unaccompanied spouses/ domestic partners* and their accompanied eligible pass riders
Why not make it the same category for active and retiree and let longevity rule?
Yes, that is correct for 25 years or less retirees at UAL and I have no problem with that if they make it the same for everybody (active and retirees) because anyone who served longer than I did will be boarding before me anyway.

Majority of Continental lowlifes that's for sure. Show us the data, I guarantee you the UAL retireees were under represented. All everybody wants is equal treatment. Just like when you were bitc h ing when management had higher priority, we are voicing our displeasure.
You say you can "gaurantee" of being underrepresented. The provide that fact since you can make a gaurantee. When the majority wanted it changed to reflect common industry practice what did you expect?
If you take more than 8 trips then you will then have to suffer with the new policy. Otherwise sounds like a win. You could trump another retiree senior to you if you were on vacation pass and they weren't. However, I am guessing you will not accept your better boarding priority and let them ride ahead of you since you prefer the current system.

You think only CAL folks wanted this changed? I'm UAL and I wanted it changed. Pretty much everyone I talked to from ual wanted it changed.

You wanted management to be on an equal level but you don't care about us retirees. I doubt you're a UAL employee.

All we want is equal boarding priority based on seniority or longevity. What's wrong with that? Is that so hard for you to understand? No more BP6, which I never had since I have less than 25 years of service. To make matter worse, I'll be an "F" priority on this new policy since I'm an early out. Also, no more buddy passes for us as well.

You made a gaurantee that you weren't represented. Wheres your proof?
Finally, you can think I'm not UA if you want. I know I've wished I wasn't several times in the past few years! Again sorry it's not what YOU wanted.

I never much liked the fact that retirees traveled before active employees who were trying to get to work. However, because it was a benefit that UAL had promised those who had put in their years, I never begrudged it. Bottom line, those who vocally support Unical taking away a long promised benefit such as this, (whether you agree with UAL's current travel pass system or not) shouldn't be very surprised when it later happens to them in some form or another....and it will happen, things have become that arbitrary.
