True.
This?
Or this? It's up to us.
The key is we have to purge this psychological fallacy that we have to give up something in negotiations to get scope.
UAL can make just as much, if not more, with newer gen. 737's on most routes as they can with 70-100 seat RJ's.
The idea of givebacks to maintain scope plays right into mgmt's. plans for something
they were in the process of accomplishing anyway as the economy and loads improve going forward.
Southwest can do it. In fact they can do it with two larger-than-RJ types now.
That's mgmt's. job to figure out how, not ours. We need to stop playing armchair managers and simply fight for our profession.
It's simply a must to maintain scope with no concessions for it.

Plus, to many guys are seeing $$$$ now, so they aren't really looking at scope.

The scope clause at one company cannot be "cherry picked" without considering the totality of the deal, and the mediator knows this too. ALPA also knows this. They even discourage MEC and NC members from "cherry picking" becuase it also can negatively impact the other party at the table. If both parties "cherry picked", there would never be a TA on anything.
I firmly disagree with your analyssis.

If you are junior now, you'll continue to be junior after this TA.
Management will attrit roughly 800 pilot jobs at mainline due to increases in RJ flying. After the retirements kick in in 2013 we'll all just stay roughly the same because of the increases coming to the regionals.
NICE. The contract that keeps on giving.
