Did this ever happen at UAL? I bet it never did! Now they are whinning like a bunch of school girls when they have to board CAL/UAL aircraft where they should at the end of standby list.

UAL pilots will love the fact that CAL pilots that are old ExpressJet pilots have boarding dates for when they were hired at ExpressJet, NOT CAL hire date. CAL has pilots that were hired at ExpressJet from 70/80/90's that were NOT hired at CAL until 90/00's and kept original ExpressJet boarding date.
CAL73CAPT,
I was one of those 90 hires. It was a dual interview. I was interviewed by CO HR and COEX HR. Had to pass both interviews. If passed CO Interview, COEX could hire you and you got the CO 'pocket number' per the agreement. As a matter of fact, was a military pilot with 3000 hours and applied to CO. COEX called, said COEX was fully owned by CO (it was) and a flow through arrangement. Fly COEX and then go CO if pass both interviews. Never filled out a COEX app. just the CO app.
Max denied several fellow CO applicants when I interviewed and so COEX did not hire them.
Thus would disagree that the ex COEX folks are not legitimate regarding hire date at CO. It's in the paperwork, and how I was hired by management, may not like it, but the game played at the time.
In any case, bailed for greener pastures, but liked the CO/COEX pilot group. Sad to see the animosity never ends, must be a drag flying with folks like me that stayed. Remember as a new hire, a UAL CPT denied me a JS as a COEX pilot because I was a "CO Scab". Go figure.

I am not surprised by the new pass program. These things happen when you fly airplanes painted to look like someone else's airline. However, I find it distasteful that XJT employees had less than three weeks to burn whatever vacation passes they had accumulated over the years, and less than a day in which to book them. Don't issue any new ones, sure, but at least allow a few months to use what was given.

And FWIW, no one I've talked to IRL has said a word about denying anybody anything on the flights they operate.

It's not 274 anymore. Remember, the 135's got sent to the desert.

Couldn't agree more. Get in, get your time, and get out. It's like that old saying, "the worst day at a major beats the best day at a regional". Although I have yet to hear a former XJT pilot that went to CAL say that although they have ZERO regrets about making the move, they wish they could have taken their contract/work rules with them

Incorrect on the UAX side. I worked for a UAX carrier for 5 years before my current job. The UAX carrier employee boarded on their UAX airplane before a mainline employee. Your statement is false.

There was a recent change, and I believe it's now "fee waived" on the domestic side. XJT employees with 10+ years were given free travel back, but I believe it's on domestic only. Domestic as defined by CAL's language. In other words, Hawaii, Mexico, etc are not domestic.

Same here, unless the flight is wide open, PLEASE PUT ME ALL THE WAY IN BACK ON A CAL FLIGHT!!!! For the reason you gave, at least I can get on and stow my one an only bag and not have to worry about gate checking it.

Unfortunate indeed. Sorry that happened. But you and I came from the same place and you know that's a two way street. Back in 2003-2004, mainline pilot at a specific carrier sits on your JS and he's the nicest guy you could meet. You ask for his JS and get a lecture about how you're taking his job, and our company should be doing whatever is necessary to help them out. Even if it meant we had to bend over and take massive pay cuts, as well as allow them to just dole out huge chunks of the flying they gave at a moments notice. Unlike the previous FPD agreement where there was a specific time of notice that had to be complied with if/when they wanted to reallocate the flying.

Not sure what you thought I meant. I'm not talking about the priority/seniority order in which they clear me for a flight. I was saying that if they clear me for a seat before boarding starts (which a lot of good gate agents at good stations will do) I ask to be changed to a seat farther back on fuller flights...since general boarding is by row number here at CAL. This way after all the first class and elites board I can board with the first group of steerage when they say, "Boarding rows 30 and higher only."

Now, if you are talking about deadheading crew members, MOST agents will let DHs go down before passenger boarding begins anyway.

I'd like to see it as POLICY! Not for "most" agents, but RULE by Proceedure. take it OUT of "personal preference". Cut and Dry is ALWAYS better than by "Favor".

ROFLMAO!

I know what you mean and I sit in the left seat.
